Rapper P. Diddy has broken his silence after CCTV footage from 2016 was unearthed last week, which appeared to show him allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura
Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs has broken his silence after the 2016 video footage resurfaced of him allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
The 54-year-old rapper took to his Instagram page on Sunday afternoon to issue an apology. In the clip, he said: “I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses.”
Speaking to the camera, Diddy spoke into the camera lens when he said: “So difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, sometimes you got to do that. I was f***ed up.

“I mean I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses, my behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, disgusting.
“I was disgusted then when I did it, I am disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, I got into going to therapy, going to rehab.
“Asked God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I am committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I’m truly sorry.”
This comes after unearthed footage from 2016 emerged from the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, obtained by CNN. The now-viral footage appears to show Diddy and Cassie in a physical altercation that matches events described in her lawsuit.
Cassie came forward with allegations against the rapper in November 2023, but the pair settled the lawsuit out of court in a timely manner. According to court documents obtained by The Mirror, she alleged that “he raped her and perpetually abused her for years.”
In the footage from 2016, Cassie can be seen walking towards the lifts in in the hallway of the hotel. Diddy then appears to run after his then-girlfriend, grabs her by the neck, and throws her to the ground while holding a towel around his waist.
In the footage, Diddy is then seen kicking her twice and retrieving luggage that was by the elevator before dragging her by a sweatshirt towards a room. After Cassie stands up, the shocking footage shows through a mirror that Diddy appears to shove her. He’s additionally seen sitting in a chair with only a towel around his body before throwing an object at Cassie.
