The NFL continues to roll out the 2024 schedule, bit by bit. And now we know who will be doing battle in the first Monday Night Football game of the season.

This morning, it was announced that Aaron Rodgers will be headed back to his home state of California in week one to take on the San Francisco 49ers in the first MNF game of the year. It’s an epic matchup between the defending NFC champions and a Jets team that’s expected to bounce back in a big way with their star quarterback healthy again.

The 49ers are entering the 2024 season with the second-lowest Super Bowl odds behind only the Kansas City Chiefs — who will open up their season against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night of week one.

The Niners ended last season with a 12-5 record. It was good enough for top spot in the conference and a first-round bye. They would go on to beat the Packers and Lions in the Divisional Round and Conference Championship Game, before losing to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 58, 25-22.

New York Jets’ Bounce-Back Season Begins On Monday Night Football

As for the Jets, their 2023 campaign couldn’t have started out any worse.

For those who don’t remember, they began last season on Monday night as well, beating the Buffalo Bills in overtime. Unfortunately, the victory came at a cost, as they lost star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a season-ending Achilles tear.

Without Rodgers, the Jets’ offense struggled mightily en route to a 7-10 record. They’ll be hoping for a much better outcome in 2024. And it all begins with Aaron Rodgers making it safely out of week one.
