Casino Royale star Mads Mikkelsen is calling for Daniel Craig to return for one last James Bond movie.

While Daniel Craig has officially retired from playing James Bond following No Time to Die, one of his co-stars from Casino Royale hasn’t given up hope on seeing the actor come back for one last movie.

To kick off his five-movie run playing James Bond, Daniel Craig debuted as 007 in the 2006 film Casino Royale.

The movie also starred Mads Mikkelsen as the movie’s villain, Le Chiffre.

In a new interview with Business Insider, Mikkelsen shared how Craig is his favorite Bond, though he added, “Then I guess it’s Sean Connery.”

Mikkelsen went on to offer praise to all of the 007 actors before observing how the franchise “changed” once Craig suited up in the tux.

From Sean Connery to Daniel Craig, six actors have officially played 007, but which one of them played James Bond the most in the movies?

“I don’t think there is a worst Bond,” Mikkelsen said. “I think they all fit in perfectly for the time it was shot.

You had someone in the ’70s, someone in the ’60s, someone in the ’80s, and it just feels right. The whole genre of the film was changing constantly.

It also changed when Daniel came. I think they all did a fantastic job, but maybe what I grew up with and what I remember best was Sean.”

When he was then asked about who he’d like to see star as the next James Bond, Mikkelsen responded, “To be honest,I’d like to see Daniel do one more, one last one… Yeah. I’d like to see him wrap it up in a different way.”

When it was pointed out how Craig’s Bond died in No Time to Die, Mikkelsen remained optimistic by noting, “Well, that’s the big question, isn’t it? I mean, it’s Bond, so I think he can get out of any situation.”

Argylle star Henry Cavill claims he wanted his eponymous secret agent to be completely different from any version of James Bond.

Daniel Craig May Not Be Interested in a James Bond Return

Mads Mikkelsen may be holding out hope, but Daniel Craig has been pretty adamant that No Time to Die officially ended his run playing James Bond.

At the time of No Time to Die‘s release, Craig was directly asked if he planned to take some time off and then return to the franchise, similar to Sean Connery in the past, and the actor stated, “Nope, definitely not.”

However, Hugh Jackman similarly swore he was finished with playing Wolverine after 2017’s Logan, but he’s now returning to that role in this year’s new film Deadpool 3, so perhaps there’s no telling what may happen in the future.
