Purdue lost in the national title against UConn, but it wasn’t because star big man Zach Edey did not show up. He was dominant from start to finish, but not everybody felt that way.

Draymond Green was one of the viewers who caught the NCAA Championship matchup between the Connecticut Huskies and the Purdue Boilermakers on Monday and he came away with a scathing remark directed toward Edey after the 75-60 victory by UConn.

Watching the game closely, the Golden State Warriors superstar believed Samson Johnson’s defense not only locked up Zach Edey, but he made him quit on his team.

“Job Well Done 35! You did your job tonight. It was him that made Edey quit with about 19 mins to go in the 2nd half. There was a turnover and I saw Edey body language walking back. He was done. Now rewatch the game from that point on. #FreeGame,” Green wrote.

That is some pretty harsh criticism for a guy who scored more than 50% of his team’s point total for the night.

Purdue Boilermakers center Zach Edey, the back-to-back Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year, scored 37 points while going 15 of 25 from the floor. He also had 10 rebounds and 2 blocks on the night, via ESPN.com.

For the national title game, coach Dan Hurley clearly had a plan to stay connected to Purdue’s shooters while living with whatever Edey was able to get against Clingan.

Eventually, the defense began to work on Edey as he did not hit a shot during a 10-minute stretch as UConn began taking control. This may be the moment where Draymond Green thinks he quit on his team.

The fairy-tale ending to Zach Edey’s college basketball career was ultimately not to be as the UConn Huskies took down the Purdue Boilermakers on Monday night in the National Championship game.

Now that his college career is over, it’s time for him to make a transition to the NBA.

CBS Sports released their mock draft and currently have the big man going in the first round, selected No. 22 by the New Orleans Pelicans.
