Former Celtics Inactive for Return to Boston with Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers roster a trio of former Celtics, but two of them are inactive for their first trip to TD Garden since getting traded from Boston.
Sunday evening at TD Garden, the Boston Celtics host the Portland Trail Blazers in a game that will tip off at 6:00 EST.
The C’s have won 12 straight tilts on their parquet, including thwarting the Sacramento Kings, 101-100, as the latter fights for postseason positioning, thanks to a game-winning floater from the middle of the paint by Xavier Tillman Sr.
As Boston turns the page to Portland while continuing to pace itself in the final stretch of the regular season, the hosts may be without their star wings on Sunday.
Jaylen Brown (left-hand sprain) and Jayson Tatum (right knee contusion) are listed as questionable for the contest on the Celtics’ initial injury report.
As for the visitors, while their roster features a trio of players who used to don Kelly green, two are inactive for their first trip to TD Garden since getting traded to the Trail Blazers.
Robert Williams is out for the season after undergoing surgery to reconstruct a torn ligament in his right knee in November. Malcolm Brogdon is inactive for Sunday’s matchup due to right elbow tendinitis.
Like Williams, the latter did not play in the previous meeting between Portland and Boston in the current campaign, a 121-99 Celtics win in the Pacific Northwest.
Dalano Banton, who finished with eight points and four assists in 22 minutes that night, is available for his return to TD Garden. The six-foot-eight Swiss army knife is averaging 16 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists since joining the Trail Blazers at the trade deadline.
