VIDEO: Cameras Caught Angel Reese And Kim Mulkey’s Interesting Postgame Exchange With Caitlin Clark After Monday Night’s Loss
Angel Reese and Kim Mulkey were humble in defeat, showing respect toward their opponents after losing the Elite Matchup against Iowa on Monday night.
Caitlin Clark was in her zone on the night, scoring 41 points and hitting nine threes, an NCAA Tournament record, to seal a 94-87 victory for the Hawkeyes. The rematch of last year’s final sees Iowa head to the Final Four, with the LSU Tigers now set to go home.
Given the way things ended in last year’s final – Reese dominated the headlines with her taunts toward Clark – it wouldn’t have been unfair to assume that sparks might fly. However, both teams exuded humility, with Reese and Clark hugging on the handshake line.
Mulkey and Clarke also embraced in a show of respect. Check it out in the clips below:
The Hawkeyes are headed to the Final Four for the second straight year, with a national title now in sight.
Clark, who has announced that she will enter the WNBA Draft, will be keen on cementing her college legacy with a championship after becoming the NCAA’s highest-ever scorer this season.
Angel Reese Doesn’t Have Much Time To Decide On Her Future
Angel Reese, on the other hand, has a huge decision to make, and she won’t have much time to do so either. The LSU star hasn’t revealed whether she will return to the Tigers for another year or head to the WNBA and told reporters she wasn’t sure after Monday’s loss.
“I’ll make a decision when I’m ready,” she said (via CBS Sports).
Reese went to the Chicago Sky at No. 8 in a recent mock draft. She will need to make her decision by around 10 PM ET on Wednesday night as, per WNBA rules, “any player competing in the Elite Eight or beyond has until 48 hours after the conclusion of their final game” to declare for the draft and renounce their remaining NCAA eligibility.
While she is a senior, Reese can use her COVID-19 eligibility extension to return to the program for a fifth season.
