Lead to Read KC: Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes reads to over 2,000 students

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was a special guest at the Lead to Read KC reading rally held at the T-Mobile Center. He met with over 2,000 kids from around 20 local schools participating in the program. Mahomes read a book with the children and emphasized the importance of reading, stating that it’s crucial not only in sports but in all aspects of life. He highlighted how reading is essential for communication and understanding, even in sports where he relies on reading plays before executing them. “Before every single play, I have to read off a play to the guys so that we know what we’re doing, and everybody can run to the right spots for me to throw,” Mahomes said. “So knowing how to read is important not only in sports but anything you do in life. So make sure that before anything, you learn how to read and learn how to read really well, and you’ll be able to do whatever you dream.” Mahomes also took the time to answer questions from the students.
