Travis Kelce needs the NFL to calm down. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end addressed the NFL’s excessive coverage of Taylor Swift amid their rumored romance on the latest episode of his podcast with his brother Jason Kelce.

“Let’s get to it. Is the NFL overdoing it?,” Jason asked his sibling. “What’s your honest opinion? Take away your feelings for Taylor.” Travis replied, “I think it’s fun when they show who was at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you’re watching. But at the same time I think —” “They’re overdoing it,” Jason interjected, prompting his brother to agree. “They’re overdoing it a little bit for sure, especially my situation,” Travis said. But, he added, “I think they’re just trying to have fun with it.” He noted that perhaps the NFL is “just not used to celebrities coming to the games.”

“Basketball has it figured out,” Travis said. “They show them once or twice, but then they get back to the game. NFL is like, ‘Oh my God, look at all these A-list celebrities at the game. Keep showing them, show em, show em.’ You show them once, let them know they’re there, and after touchdowns you get a little clip, but it can’t be overboard with it. People are there to watch the game, right?”

Swift attended the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets game last weekend at MetLife Stadium with her famous pals Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Shawn Levy, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski. Jason said the NFL is unlikely “to slow down” with its celebrity coverage, as the latest game was “the highest-viewed game that they’ve had in a while,” with a viewership high of 27 million. He said some audiences “might’ve been there for Deadpool and Taylor.”

Swift previously attended Kelce’s game at Arrowhead Stadium in September. This came after the footballer revealed that he had attempted to connect with the singer over the summer at her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City. Kelce said he tried to deliver a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it to the star but did not get the opportunity.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce said at the time. “I was a little butthurt [that] I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
