The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced 73.5 million new Gold and Platinum Program certifications for Eminem.
The recent spike, which comes in the wake of his recent performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige, now makes him the most awarded musical artist for singles in RIAA history, according to Variety.
The Detroit rapper also joined a prestigious list as one of seven musicians in any musical genre or era with three or more Diamond Album Awards.

The RIAA first launched the Gold and Platinum Awards Program in 1958 to recognize artists’ achievements in sales.
To reach a gold certification for both singles and albums in the U.S., an artist must reach 500,000 units; 1,000,000 units for platinum; multi-Platinum is 2,000,000 plus; and 10,000,000 to reach diamond.
Since 2013, the streaming of songs in the U.S. counts towards certification of singles with 150 streams being the equivalent of 1 unit sold.
And since February 2016, the RIAA includes on-demand audio and video streams and a track sale equivalent in Gold and Platinum Album Award. The program will count both sales and streams for single and album certifications.
