Actor and musician Johnny Depp surprised his fans with a rare yet meaningful message on social media as he celebrated a special event he participated in.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor took to social media to share photos from a private charity event in London to benefit model Celia Hammond’s Animal Trust.

Depp joined friend and singer-songwriter Rod Stewart to perform a few of the latter’s hit tunes, including “Maggie May” and “The First Cut is the Deepest.”

Depp shared a couple of snaps from the night on his Instagram Story, writing over it, “For the Celia Hammond Animal Trust.

Thank you for having me. JD X.” The Celia Hammond Animal Trust shared Depp’s Story while also posting a bunch of photos from the experience for all to see.

The Instagram update included a quote from Hammond reported by the Daily Mail, with the model saying, “I cannot thank Sir Rod Stewart and Johnny Depp enough and of course, Mark Aldridge for creating such a magical experience for us. We are all blown away by the support we have received which was desperately needed for us to continue our important animal rescue work.”

Depp posed with Hammond, Stewart and others in attendance, while the post also included shots from the musical performance.

He told Daily Mail, “Celia’s devotion and commitment to protecting vulnerable and neglected animals is beyond admirable.

I’m so glad to be part of the evening’s success, and with the added bonus of playing alongside my friend, Sir Rod Stewart.”

The 60-year-old occasionally posts on social media about his art, music or film projects–and his fans are always happy to hear about anything he’s doing.

He recently concluded filming the next movie he’s directing called Modi. This is Depp’s first directing project since he helmed the music video “Unlovable” by Babybird in 2010.
