“Variety” magazine published a video in which Depp appears with teary eyes during the ovation

Johnny Depp was teary-eyed after his film’s warm reception at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday (16). In a video shared on social media by “Variety” magazine,

Depp appears visibly moved during seven minutes of applause for his film, “Jeanne du Barry”, in which he plays the former King of France Louis 15.

It was the actor’s first film since a libel trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard last summer. A jury found both men liable for defamation in their lawsuits against each other, but awarded more damages to Depp.

At the film’s press conference in Cannes, the actor spoke about “abstract whispers” and said that “most of what you’ve read in the last four or five years… in relation to me and my life, what you’ve read is fantastically , horribly written fiction.”

“The focus should simply be on the fact that it’s a miracle to make a film that interests us in the first place,” he said. “You win right there,” he added.

“Variety” reported that Depp also said, “I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about Hollywood.”

“Jeanne du Barry” tells the story of Jeanne Bécu, Countess du Barry, known as Madame du Barry and lover of King Louis 15. In April, the head of Cannes, Thierry Frflictax, spoke to “Deadline” about the decision to open the festival with Depp’s film, calling it “a beautiful film.”

“The opening film also has to be released simultaneously in French cinemas; We don’t put platform films in this space, because we want France to participate in the festival,” said Frflictax. “The film is a success, and Johnny Depp [as Louis 15] is magnificent in it.”
