Prince William Reveals Which Sport Prince Louis ‘Loves’ Ahead of His 6th Birthday
Prince William has shed some light on a fun activity that he said his youngest son, Prince Louis, “loves.”
The Prince of Wales made a casual reference to his 5-year-old son’s hobby while working with Surplus to Supper earlier this week. The charity, which operates out of the Sunbury Cricket Club in Sunbury-on-Thames, England, is focused on redirecting surplus food so that it can go to people in need. William’s visit marked his first public return to royal duties since his wife, Kate Middleton, announced in a March 22 video message that she is battling cancer.
As he chatted with others who were helping out with Surplus to Supper, William mentioned that Louis “loves” cricket, according to Hello! magazine, a comment that appeared to reference the charity’s home base. The tidbit provided a sweet glimpse into the royal family’s private life just days before Louis’ sixth birthday on Tues., April 23.
According to Louis’ mother, there was another sport that the royal couple’s youngest son was recently interested in. At an event in November 2023, the Princess of Wales said that all three of her children “love sport” and that Louis in particular was “mad about rugby,” according to The Daily Mirror.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are both known sports fans and have attended several major sporting events in the past in support of their favorite teams. William in particular was recently spotted watching soccer with their oldest son, Prince George, at a UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final game in Birmingham, England.
While chatting about sports during an appearance on The Good, the Bad and the Rugby podcast last year, William said that the “environment” of team sports played a significant part in his childhood. The prince said that he believes it is important to learn “how to lose” and how to “win well,” which he explained are just two of the “many life lessons” that kids can pick up from playing team sports.
