Medical doctors have provided some insight on the viral photo of a concerning looking injury on LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels.

On Tuesday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Jayden Daniels is set to meet with six teams. Rapoport shared a photo of Daniels throwing a football with a gruesome looking elbow injury, which was noticed by several observers:

But not to worry, folks. Two prominent sport medicine doctors have provided some clarity on Jayden Daniels’ elbow injury, emphasizing that it is nothing overly serious.

 

Sports medicine and family medicine physician Dr. Jesse Morse took to X/Twitter to give his insight on Daniels’ injury. Dr. Morse stated that it seems to be “olecranon bursitis”, which is harmless as long as there isn’t an infection.

Dr. Morse also states that it should “not impact” Daniels’ athletic abilities nor lead to any pain, calling it nothing more than “a visual oddity.”

Jayden Daniels appears to be dealing with olecranon bursitis of his right throwing elbow.

Another sports medicine physician, Dr. Eric Friedman, also stated that Daniels’ elbow injury seems to be olecranon bursitis. Like Dr. Morse, Dr. Friedman stated that it shouldn’t at all effect Daniels as long as there’s no infection:

Daniels won the 2023 Heisman Trophy after throwing for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns against only four interceptions to go along with 1,134 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. He is currently ranked as the No. 3 2024 NFL Draft at ESPN, behind Ohio State wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. and LSU quarterback Caleb Williams.

Jayden Daniels Will Likely Be A Top-Three Pick

Caleb Williams is a virtual lock to go first overall to the Chicago Bears. It’s anybody’s guess who the No. 2 and No. 3 picks will be, but it would be a shock if Jayden Daniels wasn’t gone by the time the No. 4 selection (currently owned by the Arizona Cardinals) is on the clock.

The Washington Commanders pick second, with the New England Patriots behind them at No. 3 overall. Those two clubs also need a quarterback, and Jayden Daniels’ dual-threat style of play should be hard for both teams to pass up on.

The bottom line is that it’d be a giant surprise if Daniels wasn’t selected in the top-three.
