Angel Reese

In addition to being one of the most skilled players in the NCAA, Angel Reese is also quite well-liked. T

he LSU Tigers forward is not in a rush to transition to professionalism because she is well aware that these two things create the worth of her brand.

Reese’s name, image, and likeness (NIL) are valued at $1.8 million, according to On3.com, a website that tracks the brand value of NCAA athletes.

With Caitlin Clark as the only competitor, this number is the second-highest in women’s basketball and the eighth-highest overall.

Due to her innate talent, Reese is frequently approached by various brands who want to use her name as a shield.

Xfinity, Jansport, McDonald’s, and Wingstop are a few of her big sponsors.

Because of this, the Tigers forward becomes a little haughty and says she doesn’t have to try her luck in the WNBA Draft when asked if she intends to do so.

Angel is bound by contracts no matter where she travels.

Reese’s eligibility is currently in her fourth year.

For college athletes, that is often the end of the road; however, those who took part in the pandemic-shortened 2020–2021 season were all eligible for a fifth year of collegiate competition.

Clark and a few other players made the decision to become professionals rather than take advantage of that chance.

Reese, however, is delaying her decision for a while.

She clarified during a recent news conference, “For me, I’ve honestly learned that regardless, I’m going to be able to make money staying or leaving.”

She claimed to have realized at this point that, “my brand has been built, where I know that more than being in college is something I can do. The deals are going to follow me if I leave or stay.”

Known as “Bayou Barbie”

Despite her recent failure to register her moniker, “Bayou Barbie,” as her own brand because of a dispute with Mattel, the manufacturer of toys, the player is still signing deals with big sponsors.

Reese got a Mercedes-Benz as a gift from the well-known automaker in April 2023 after signing a deal with them just in October.

Moreover, her social media fan base is expanding rapidly, drawing in additional sponsorships and enabling her to further monetize her brand.

“I’ve built that relationship with a lot of these brands. I don’t just have brands that are in college, I have brands that are long-term deals that are just past college, and I think that’s the difference,”

She gave an explanation for why she decided to leave her choice to enter the 2024 WNBADraft to the very last minute.

Given everything that Angel Reese has done and what her future holds, one could concede that her haughtiness is totally appropriate.
