French prodigy Victor Wembanyama once again entertained at Les Bleus training with an incredible Brazilian
FIBA (DR)

Given what he showed during his first season in the NBA, both on offense and defense, Victor Wembanyama is almost guaranteed to be part of the Olympic adventure this summer.

And he will not attack this first major competition with anything other than overflowing ambition.

The Olympic Games will be an opportunity for Victor Wembanyama to start his international career in the best possible way.

He has already worn the blue jersey, obviously, but this will be his first major competition with Vincent Collet’s group.

And although he is young, with what he is showing in the NBA, he should immediately have a leading role in the team.

More than talent, the young Spurs interior should also bring his immense ambition.

In the French team as in San Antonio, he will want to win everything with the objective of marking the history of his sport.

What better way to do that than to win a medal in front of your home crowd, if possible by taking down a legendary group like Team USA?

NBA Preview: Wemby a no-show as Wizards face Spurs - Bullets Forever

Victor Wembanyama wants the gold medal, nothing else!

And be careful, Wemby doesn’t want to win just any medal, he wants Olympic gold.

In any case, this is what he explained at a press conference after the draw for the group stage.

He is still young, but he behaves like a leader and a captain, which bodes very well for the rest of his career.

It’s up to others to meet his level of demands.

If I have the chance to participate in the Olympic Games and we fall short of the gold medal, I would see it as a failure if I think we could have done better.

And at the same time I think it’s a very achievable goal if you play in such a way that you don’t have any regrets.

We have a potentially trap group, but it’s very interesting and affordable.

Victor Wembanyama wants to win gold, and he will see any other result as a failure if he does not feel the French team at 100% of its capabilities.

The good news in this quest, as he recognizes, is that the Blues group is far from being the most terrifying with Germany, Japan, and a team from qualifying, probably Latvia.

It remains to be seen whether Victor Wembanyama’s desire for excellence will not be a source of frustration in the locker room.

He will play with more experienced players, who have already had great success with the selection, so be careful not to step on them, at the risk of creating a bad atmosphere.

Vincent Collet will have to be attentive to all of this.

Victor Wembanyama is aiming for the gold medal, or at least a course that will not leave him with the slightest regret.

He wants to give his all, and evolve in a group that will leave his guts on the pitch . It’s promising!
