Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that the Green Bay Packers are expected to sign former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs to a contract on Monday.

With one star running back coming in, somebody had to go.

Shortly after the announcement, the team announced they were releasing former Pro Bowler Aaron Jones.

The 29-year-old was set to make $12 million this season. Instead, he’s free and will be able to sign with a new team. There are a ton of running backs on the free agent market and now Jones is joining them.

Last season, Jones appeared in 11 games and recorded 142 rushing attempts for 656 yards and two touchdowns. He also recorded 30 receptions for 233 yards and one touchdown.

In the right system, Jones can still be a deadly weapon for a team that has a nice quarterback already in place.

The seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers made history last year to become the first 7th seed to win a playoff game. They did so by defeating the Dallas Cowboys on the road.
