While media analyst Richard Deitsch believes Tom Brady will do well as a football analyst, he doubts that the seven-time Super Bowl winner will stay through his ten-year deal with Fox.
The 2024 NFL season will mark Brady’s first year as Fox’s lead color commentator. The 46-year-old will begin a 10-year, $357million deal that made him the highest-paid sports commentator of all time.
On his Sports Media With Richard Deitsch podcast, the media veteran said it would be ‘inconceivable’ if Brady stayed through the duration of his contract. He also cited how Brady was hired to fill in Greg Olsen’s shoes without prior experience in broadcast.
‘I’d bet all the money I own that Tom Brady will not complete the Fox contract,’ Deitsch said. ‘I can’t tell you how many years he will be there, but it seems inconceivable, to me, that he would be there for all 10.’
Deitsch also suggested that Olsen should stick around at Fox and wait for another commentary opening, another network to make an offer, or Brady to step away from the role.

Brady won six titles with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
His new title will place Brady in the booth with Kevin Burkhardt for Fox’s featured game every week.
Deitsch’s guest, Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, suggested that Brady’s success has been set up by pairing his football IQ with Burkhardt’s ability on the job.
‘Kevin Burkhardt is a very good play-by-play’er, but what he’s really the best at is getting a lot out of his teammate,’ Marchand said. ‘I think Olsen’s success had something to do with [having] Burkhardt as a partner. Kevin is unselfish and wants his analyst to do well.
‘He [made] it about Olsen, and he will make it about Brady. That’s a huge advantage for him that the point guard that he’s going to have is someone who wants to make him look good and put him in good situations to do well.’
Brady retired from the NFL in 2023 after 23 seasons. Upon his retirement, Brady accepted the role at Fox, armed with the experience of winning six Super Bowl titles in New England and another in Tampa Bay.
