According to recent reports from ESPN’s Marc Spears, former NBA player Drew Gordon, who was the older brother of Denver Nuggets player Aaron Gordon, died in a car accident on Thursday at the age of 33. The accident occurred in Portland, Oregon.

“Former NBA forward Drew Gordon, the brother of Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon, died in a car accident in Portland, Ore., today, his agent Calvin Andrews confirmed to ESPN Landscape. The San Jose native who played at UCLA and New Mexico was 33 years old.” Spears wrote.

Gordon began his college basketball career at UCLA before transferring to the New Mexico Lobos in his second year. As the starting center for the Lobos, Gordon received multiple accolades for his strong play, providing New Mexico with a dominant presence on the court.

Gordon gained attention in basketball by appearing in nine games for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-15 season. After concluding his time in New Mexico in 2012, Gordon continued to demonstrate his amazing basketball skills in various local and international tournaments. Gordon had a significant impact at UCLA.

Following his college career, he played professional basketball for over ten years, most of which were spent abroad. The pinnacle of his international career was being named an All-Star in France in 2015. In 2023, Gordon retired from basketball.

Aaron Gordon has demonstrated his incredible talent throughout the current season. He has averaged 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 73 games this regular season. In the 2024 playoffs, he has averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 12 games. Recently, during the playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves’ star player, expressed his frustration over Gordon’s performance.
