Suri Cruise, daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, quietly changed her name upon turning 18, renouncing her father’s last name. She now goes by Suri Noelle, adopting her mother’s middle name, Kate Noelle Holmes.
In New York City, Suri was seen confidently strolling with headphones, symbolizing her newfound autonomy.
The name change diverges from her birth certificate, which listed her as Suri Cruise, filed 20 days after her birth on April 18, 2006.
Scientology researcher Tony Ortega remarked, “Suri will now be free to talk if she wants to,” highlighting her ability to discuss personal matters like her relationship with her father.
This strained relationship, marked by long separations, has been public knowledge for years.
As Suri matures, she can shape her own path, supported by her mother, Katie, who has always prioritized her daughter’s well-being.
Tom, 61, and Katie, 45, tied the knot in 2006 and later divorced in 2012.
Katie gained sole custody of her daughter following the split, along with a generous settlement for Suri’s care.
Katie and Suri went off the radar in the years following, and she has not seen her movie-star dad since Christmas 2013.
In an interview with Daily Mail in March 2023, a source said that Tom is not involved in his teenager’s life at all.
“Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade,” the insider said.
“She does not go to see his movies and he has no part in her life.”
Tom is still close to his older children – Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29, whom he adopted with actress Nicole Kidman, 56.
