Dwayne Johnson’s WWE debut in 1996 as Rocky Maivia may not have garnered much attention from fans initially, but subsequent appearances transformed him into the superstar we know as The Rock today.

UFC legend Chael Sonnen recently praised Johnson’s return in a YouTube video, drawing comparisons between The Rock and UFC icon Conor McGregor. Sonnen emphasized how figures like them remain indispensable for the major events of their respective promotions.

Chael Sonnen noted that both Conor McGregor and The Rock may not be at their prime anymore, yet their fame continues to draw attention and opportunities from their promotions.

“He [Conor] is not what he once was. But he is still in front of everybody, and that’s what The Rock is.”

However, Sonnen then pointed out that Conor McGregor and Dwayne Johnson are currently far from their primes and may not possess the same skills they once did, which is obviously humiliating for both of the superstars. Regardless, it isn’t known if either of them will even respond to Chael Sonnen in the end.

While speaking to Total Film, Conor McGregor provided further insight into his decision to pursue acting, noting that while he had previously passed on other movie roles, he found himself in awe of the entire filmmaking process during the filming of Road House.

“I was just in awe of it all, to be honest with you, the whole process,” McGregor remarked, acknowledging his initial uncertainty about how he would adapt to acting, considering himself primarily a fighter. However, he found the experience to be incredibly rewarding, expressing,

“I didn’t know how I was going to take to it. I didn’t know whether I was going to like it, to be honest. I’m a fighting man – that’s my bread and butter. It’s where I come from… I’m not an actor, but I’m show business. That was my vibe to it. I felt that. I enjoyed every second of it.”

In terms of the movie’s release, McGregor expressed a preference for a theatrical release, emphasizing his support for the theater experience. He stated, “I’d love for it to be in theaters. I’m for the theater. I understand the business, also … I’d love a call with [Amazon founder Jeff] Bezos.”
