Bronny James has reportedly landed workouts with 10 NBA teams but will only attend “a couple of them.”
The former USC Trojans guard gave a great account of himself at the scouting combine and has naturally attracted attention from teams around the league.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, James has received workout invites from 10 teams but won’t visit all of them. The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns are the only teams he plans to work out with.
Of course, the Lakers would be keen on drafting Bronny as it would likely mean they get to keep his father, LeBron James. The four-time MVP hasn’t decided on his future and is still mulling over his $51.4 million player option for next season but would be incentivized to stick around if they draft his son, as it’s been a dream for them to play together.
His agent, Rich Paul, referred to him as a “free agent” during Sunday’s alternate broadcast of Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves.
“I don’t know what he’s gonna do,” Paul explained to TNT’s Chris Haynes later on. “We’re gonna do what we do every year. We’re gonna evaluate the situation and we’re gonna make the best decision.”
The Lakers And Suns Are Both Interested In Drafting Bronny James
Meanwhile, Charania has reported that Bronny James was “among several players” the Suns were considering selecting with their No. 22 pick in the first round of the upcoming NBA Draft.
Last month, Charania, Jovan Buha, and Sam Amick noted that the Lakers were “open to the prospect” of drafting the 19-year-old.
According to ESPN’s Jamal Collier, Bronny’s performance at the combine helped establish him as a potential second-round pick. He recorded a vertical jump of 40.5 inches, going 19-of-25 shooting threes.
