Did Eminem fake it on SNL? Fans are buzzing with accusations that the rapper lip-synced his way through the live performance—did he really mime the whole thing?

Eminem’s performance on SNL over the weekends set tongues wagging, but not for the right reasons.

The rapper has been accused of lip-synching during a rendition of his new song Berzerk.

While the show is called Saturday Night Live, it seems this particular portion of the episode may not have entirely lived up to the name.

At certain parts of the performance Eminem’s mouth movements were out of time with the music.

He was also seen moving the microphone away from his mouth, but this didn’t stop the vocals from broadcasting at the same volume.

A representative for the star denied that he was miming to TMZ but admitted he was using a vocal track as well as a live microphone.

The rep added: ‘He just likes this sound and if you listen to his albums they are done the same way.’

Several viewers expressed their anger on Twitter after watching the performance and believing that Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, had been miming.

User @jeremycox wrote: ‘If what you’re doing in the studio is so complicated, you can’t pull it off live, then don’t even bother recording it. #Eminem #SNL #lipsync.’

Meanwhile @CedGordon tweeted: ‘I didn’t know you were allowed to lip sync on SNL. Eminem wasn’t singing Bezerk live, was he? Sounded just like the record.’

Others called the miming ‘obvious’ and claimed that not only did the star lip-sync, but he did so badly.

Eminem was compared to Ashlee Simpson, who was caught miming her performance on SNL in 2004 when her tracks got muddled up, and was promptly slammed for it.

However some fans of the 51-year-old scoffed at the suggestion and @MarshMelai claimed he ‘didn’t lip-sync at all’ while @EminemSyndromee asked: ‘Where are people even getting this from?’

Eminem performed two songs from his new album on the show, the second being Survival.

The episode was hosted by Kerry Washington who helped SNL draw in the highest ratings of the season so far.

Eminem’s eighth studio album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 was released in the UK on Saturday and will be released on Tuesday in the US.
