McCoy says Prescott needs to step up and utilize the players around him better.
LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy, a former NFL running back, believes that the Dallas Cowboys won’t win the Super Bowl with Dak Prescott. In the latest episode of FOX Sports 1’s sports show ‘Speak,’ McCoy singled out Prescott, labeling him “the weakest link” in the Cowboys squad. The 29-year-old Prescott is coming off a satisfactory season in the NFL. He only played 12 games with an 8-4 record. He had his joint-third-best year in terms of touchdowns, scoring 23.
It has been an up-and-down career so far for Prescott. The 2016 Rookie of the Year was touted for greatness, but his lackluster performances have prevented him from getting his hands on the Super Bowl.
When Emmanual Acho asked his co-host LeSean McCoy about Prescott’s chances of winning a Super Bowl, he said, “Absolutely not!” He went on to clarify his opinion, saying, ” Listen, when I watch the Cowboys play, and I’m always like, ‘What is their real issue? Why can’t they win the big games?’ And I automatically go to the quarterback.”
He wasn’t impressed with Prescott’s inability to utilize his teammates’ abilities better. “When I watch the Cowboys, they have a top-five defense, right?” McCoy said, “They have a player, Micah Parsons, who is the closest thing to LT (Lawrence Taylor), Trevon Diggs; you already have him.” Parsons-led Cowboys defense sat 8th overall in passing yards allowed per game (200.9) in 2022.
The two-time Super Bowl winner continued, “They have All-Pro wide receivers like CeeDee Lamb, and then go get Brandin Cooks, What else do you need? Because every time I watch the Cowboys lose, it’s the quarterback’s fault.”

The Cowboys reached the divisional round in 2022, with Prescott registering 206 passing yards and a touchdown against the 49ers.
Can the Cowboys count on Dak Prescott going forward?

Even though Dak Prescott is a hard worker and a leader for the Cowboys, fans are starting to realize that the Cowboys may have made a mistake by giving him a massive extension of $160 million for four years. That’s roughly 11.7% of the Cowboys’ entire 2023 salary cap share.
The two-time Pro Bowler, although his last appearance came in 2018, has to step up his game. As LeSean McCoy pointed out, Prescott has every weapon at his disposal to work with; he just needs to dig deep and find them.
However, the Cowboys can always turn to Cooper Rush, who filled in Prescott’s absence. He had a 5-1 record while leading his team to victory against both the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Giants. Prescott’s time is quickly running out, and he needs to find his footing.
