Britney Spears opened up about suffering ‘nerve damage’ so severe it affects her ability to think sometimes’ to her 42.2 million Instagram followers on Wednesday.
In a since-deleted Instagram caption, the 42-year-old pop star shared that ‘there are a lot of people who don’t know what’ her body ‘physically went through’ during her 13-year conservatorship, which was terminated in November 2021.
‘I’m not here to be a victim, I’m here to express that even though I did a book about my experiences, the trauma is still there and probably will always be,’ she explained.
The Circus singer continued: ‘It’s extremely deep and to my knowledge, all I can do is do the best I can and know it’s okay to be upset some days or not be okay and that’s something I don’t feel like the world has allowed me to do!!!!’
The mother-of-two went on to say that while, at times she feels bullied or unfairly judged, that all she can do is ‘try to be awakened by prayer that connects her to’ be forgiving.
She, then, explained how difficult it is for her to forgive her parents, Lynne Spears and Jamie Spears, who she accused of causing ‘serious nerve damage’ to the ‘right side’ of her body.
‘I have to be the bigger person and forgive my own parents… but that’s extremely hard!!!’ she concluded. ‘I will do my best to let it go and not let others down by my anger!!!’
Later in the day, she returned to Instagram to share a flirty video of herself rocking a white minidress with a peekaboo cutout across her chest and cowboy boots.
The recording was taken while in her living room as she recorded herself in a full-length mirror.
Back in 2022, Spears first spoke about having nerve damage on the right side of her body, which she claimed was a result of time she spent at medical facility that she was placed in against her will back in 2019.
Despite stating there was ‘no cure’ for her pain, she said dancing helps alleviate some of the symptoms.
‘It’s weird I don’t feel the nerve damage when I dance, maybe that’s my inner child’s mind letting go and surrendering. It’s trust, belief and God knows I’m not a professional but I am able to feel something in those moments,’ she explained in 2022.
‘Nerve damage is caused sometimes when you don’t get enough oxygen to your brain … your brain literally shuts down … blah blah blah old story … in that place I didn’t breathe when I was there … nerve damage causes parts of your body to go numb,’ she wrote on Instagram, at the time.
Spears also revealed that she wakes up ‘like three times a week in bed with my hands are completely numb’ and feelings of ‘pins and needles’ on the right side of her body.
‘It shoots up to my neck and the part that hurts the worst is my temple on my head … it stings and it’s scary,’ she explained.
‘That place’ appears to be a reference to the medical facility Spears was put into against her will in 2019, which she’s called out repeatedly.
She went on to share that her health issues have gotten ‘a lot better’ in more recent times.
In addition to physical pain from her conservatorship, Spears has been open about suffering from serious mental trauma that she endured during that time of her life.
Earlier this week, multiple sources have alleged to TMZ that Spears is ‘not taking her mental health medication’ while simultaneously drinking and taking other drugs.
She is said to be allowing her felon boyfriend Paul Soliz to ‘run her household and her life’, with those closest to her claiming she can’t be reasoned with because her ‘mood swings often turn into rages that end in physical violence.’
Paul has reportedly been charged with multiple misdemeanors and at least one felony, according to court documents, such as possession of a firearm in December 2022 when he was employed by Britney. Also in September 2023, Paul was seen at the San Fernando Superior Court after allegedly violating his probation.
Insiders told the outlet that many of her loved ones are concerned her ‘mental health is in a tailspin’ and they fear the only way forward is for her to be placed under another conservatorship.
The site reports that she is ‘in danger of hurting herself or others’, adding: ‘There are times we’re told it’s impossible to communicate with her because she can’t engage in rational conversation.’
