Megan Thee Stallion brought her Hot Girl Summer Tour to New York City to play Madison Square Garden, otherwise known as the World’s Most Famous Arena.
After having kicked off her new trek on the road, which will take her through the U.S. and parts of Europe with GloRilla as the opener, the sold out crowd erupted with cheers about midway into the show when Cardi B made a surprise appearance.
The dynamic duo then proceeded to deliver a version of their collaboration, Bongos (2023), that was followed up by their chart-topping hit WAP (2020).
The two rappers and friends, decked out in black bodysuits, seemed to relish in their sexuality, womanhood and sisterhood, while moving and dancing together, which included no shortage of twerking as they commanded the stage together.
The pair ultimately decided to make it a party on stage by breaking into a verse from GloRilla’s Tomorrow 2, that prompted the Memphis rhymer to return to the stage to create a trio of female emcee hip-hop stars, according to People.
‘Aye, y’all, we got a special motherf***ing announcement. I need y’all to stay tuned,’ GloRilla teased the audience, as seen in videos on social media. ‘Make sure y’all tune in tonight ’cause I ain’t telling you right now.’
Seemingly stunned, Megan (born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete), 29, didn’t sound like she wanted to wait, saying, ‘Now how you gonna tease that then try to walk away?’
After a bit of banter the star of the Hot Girl Summer Tour, Stallion’s first headlining concert tour in support of her upcoming third studio album, prompted GloRilla to come clean.
‘Y’all wanna hear Wanna Be with motherf***ing Cardi B?’ GloRilla (born Gloria Hallelujah Woods), 24, yelled out, before Megan confirmed she’s about to drop a remix of Wanna Be with Cardi.
At last check, a release date for the Wanna Be remix has not yet been announced publicly.
The Hot Girl Summer Tour kicked off on May 14 at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After two shows in Chicago and another in Detroit, Stallion rolled her crew up to MSG for her big show in the the big city on Tuesday, May, 21.
Being in the hometown of Cardi B, who’s from the Bronx in New York City, it seemed like a perfect time for her to come out and support Megan.
‘Hotties I am really back here tearing up,’ Megan revealed in an Instagram post ahead of her NYC concert. ‘We really got a SOLD OUT show at the most famous arena in the world @thegarden like huhhh??? NYC hotties lets have a BLAST TONIGHT I LOVE YALL #HOTGIRLSUMMERTOUR.’
The tour will take her through the U.S. to such cities like Philadelphia, Boston, Memphis, Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, and Los Angeles in the coming weeks through June 23 in San Francisco.
From there, she’s heads to Europe for eight shows beginning in Glasgow, Scotland on July 4, that takes her to places like Paris, Amsterdam and London, among others.
Ultimately, she returns to the U.S, for one last show of the tour at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. on July 27, as part of the Broccoli City Festival.
Along with the Traumazine artist, the DC festival will also feature the likes of Gunna, PartyNextDoor, Lil Yachty, Victoria Monét, Kaytranada, among many others.
Ahead of her tour and release of her still untitled third studio album, which will be the first under her independent label Hot Girl Productions, the San Antonio, Texas native dropped three singles.
The song Coba came in October 2023, marking her first song since leaving the record label 1501 Certified Entertainment, and then Hiss followed this past January.
After reaching number one on the Apple Music charts a day after its release, Hiss would later debut atop the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the rapper’s third No. 1 hit as well as her first solo number one.
Stallion’s third single, Boa, would ended up being released on May 10.
Both Cardi and Megan took to their respective Instagram pages to share an assortment of photos taken backstage, as well as a few of them performing together.
‘We had a timeeee last night lol,’ the Freak Nasty star shared in the caption.
The Bodak Yellow star, who also donned knee-high boots to her ensemble, would also share images that featured all three hip- hop stars.
‘Thank you @theestallion and @glorillapimp for bringing me out! We had a time last night honey!!!’ she gushed in the caption of her post.
Cardi was also featured wearing lavender pants with a plunging white t-shirt upon her arrival at MSG for the show, while Megan was also showcased in a revealing pink minidress with a large opening to highlighter her toned midriff.
