SportsLine’s women’s basketball expert Calvin Wetzel has revealed his top picks for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty on Saturda
The New York Liberty (2-0) and Indiana Fever (0-2) will wrap up an early home-and-home series on Saturday afternoon. New York cruised to a 102-66 win over Indiana in front of a sellout crowd in Indianapolis on Thursday, as Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark was held to just 9 points on 2 of 8 shooting. The Liberty made their fifth WNBA Finals appearance last season, losing to the Las Vegas Aces. They have the most appearances in the WNBA Finals without a championship and are the only remaining original franchise in the league without a title.
Since the start of the 2021-22 women’s college basketball campaign, Wetzel is an insane 1,384-988 (+371.33 units). Wetzel also predicted 66 of 68 NCAA Women’s Tournament teams this year, as well as 62 of 68 teams within one seed line, and correctly picked 13 of 16 second-round games. Anybody following him has seen huge returns.
Now, he has set his sights on Liberty vs. Fever and just locked in his picks and WNBA predictions. You can visit SportsLine now to see his picks. Here are several WNBA betting lines and trends for Fever vs. Liberty:

Why the Liberty can cover
New York was able to crush Indiana on the road in front of a sellout crowd on Thursday, so there is no reason why they can’t return the favor at home. The Liberty were led by forward Breanna Stewart, who poured in 31 points on 12 of 21 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds. She had five teammates score at least nine points, including a double-double effort from forward Jonquel Jones.
The Liberty were unstoppable in the paint, outscoring the Fever by more than 20 points in that statistic. Indiana has looked outmatched in both of its games thus far, as it lost to Connecticut by 21 points on Tuesday. Meanwhile, New York is excited to return home after winning each of its first two games on the road. See which side to back at SportsLine.
Why the Fever can cover
Indiana only trailed by 11 points entering the fourth quarter on Thursday, so most of New York’s damage was done in the final period. The Fever had a terrible shooting night from beyond the arc, and they should improve from distance on Saturday. Clark has also been able to get a pair of WNBA games under her belt, which will allow her to settle in and feel more comfortable.
The Liberty were motivated to make a statement in a raucous environment when these teams met earlier this week, but they could take their foot off the gas pedal following that blowout win. That game will now serve as motivation for the Fever as they look to avoid getting embarrassed for the second game in a row. Clark scored 20 points in his first WNBA road game, and her turnover numbers were not nearly as alarming on Thursday. See which side to back at SportsLine.
