The Arizona Cardinals have had an exciting off-season trying to keep quarterback Kyler Murray happy. The team decided to use their first-round pick to draft Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr at fourth overall.
The team may have made a really good decision with that pick. He is not only the son of former NFL receiver Marvin Harrison, but he reportedly has inherited the work ethic of the former Colts Superstar pass catcher.
While this may be good news for Cardinals fans, the team clearly doesn’t want the young receiver to burn out before the season begins. Head coach Jonathan Gannon reportedly wants to simmer down Harrison’s intense workload.
According to an X post by PHNX Cardinals, Gannon stated that the rookie pass catcher “does a lot extra… maybe too much.” Gannon noted that he is trying to limit the 21-year-old’s extra reps to keep him from losing a step.
Arizona Cardinals Want Marvin Harrison Jr. to Lessen His Workload
Harrison Jr is slated to be the number one option for Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray after the team lost their top wide receiver from last season, Hollywood Brown, to the Kansas City Chiefs after a 574-yard season.
In 2023, Marvin Harrison Jr accumulated over 1200 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on just 67 receptions with Ohio State. The receiver was ranked number one in his position ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft after leading his team to a Cotton Bowl appearance.
Now, as fans anxiously await the start of the 2024 NFL season, they wonder what the Cardinals will be able to do with their new duo of Harrison Jr. and Murray. It remains to be seen whether or not the young duo will falter under pressure.
