Emma Watson has long been ahead of the curve when it comes to her commitment to sustainable fashion. Way before the current trend for vintage took off, the Harry Potter star was already wearing archival looks on the red carpet, as well as launching an ethical collection with fair trade brand People Tree.
Later, at the 2016 Met Gala, Watson used the platform to make an environmental statement with her Calvin Klein dress made from recycled plastic bottles. The following year, Watson launched an Instagram account specifically dedicated to showcasing her planet-friendly looks for the Beauty and the Beast press tour, ranging from a Givenchy dress made from organic silk to an Emilia Wickstead gown constructed using end-of-the line fabric.
Fast forward to today, and British Vogue’s January 2024 cover star is still flying the flag for eco-conscious fashion. Her wardrobe includes emerging designers such as Harris Reed and Rave Review, while she is also an avid supporter of Good On You, an app that rates a brand’s sustainability credentials according to its impact on the planet, people, and animals.
