WWE has pushed a number of couples together
WWE Superstars are on the road for ninety percent of the year since there are live shows as well as SmackDown, RAW and NXT which are presented live on a weekly basis and that’s without pay-per-views being brought into the equation.
This means that Superstars develop long-lasting relationships much like Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman or Triple H and Shawn Michaels, but at the same time, there are relationships formed between stars who have been forced to work together and many of these have led to engagement, marriage, and long term relationships outside of the company.
Many of these relationships have been formed by stars on NXT and the main roster after they were forced to work together as part of a storyline and here are just a few of the high profile relationships that the company can take credit for.
#5 Alexa Bliss and Buddy Murphy
Alexa Bliss and Buddy Murphy dated throughout their time in NXT
Alexa Bliss has become one of the most recognizable female wrestlers in WWE over the past few years, ever since she was drafted from NXT to SmackDown back in 2016 whilst Buddy Murphy seemingly took a much longer road through 205 Live and SmackDown Live until he was moved over to Monday Night RAW as part of the most recent draft.
During their time in NXT, Alexa Bliss and Buddy Murphy worked side by side as two-thirds of BAMF, which was The Blake, Alexa and Murphy Factor. The couple reportedly began their relationship whilst working together in WWE’s developmental division, before announcing their engagement in 2017, merely months after Bliss was promoted to the main roster.
In recent years, the couple has featured on Total Divas, but sadly the couple was revealed to have gone their separate ways in the fall of 2018 and have since been able to focus solely on their blossoming WWE careers.
#4 Carmella and Big Cass
Carmella and Big Cass worked together in NXT before their relationship began
Another relationship that was created in NXT was that of Carmella and Big Cass. The two stars made up two-thirds of Enzo and Big Cass’s stable since Carmella worked as the manager of the tag team for a number of months before it was decided that the duo would be promoted to the main roster without The Princess of Staten Island.
Carmella remained in NXT for a few months and was later promoted to SmackDown in the WWE Draft back in 2016, whilst Cass and Enzo remained on RAW. Carmella has since become the most successful former member of the group since she a former Women’s Champion whilst Cass and Enzo have both been released from the company in recent years.
Aligning them together in NXT led to a relationship between the two stars, but when they were drafted apart, it obviously caused issues. Carmella has since moved on to a relationship with WWE commentator Corey Graves and was recently drafted to SmackDown as part of the 2019 WWE Draft so that she could remain on the same brand as her boyfriend this time around.
#3 The Miz and Maryse
Miz and Maryse worked together on WWE TV before their they dated
The Miz and Maryse have been married now for more than five years and have already welcomed two children, but even though both stars are now part of Miz and Mrs, they have quite a cute story when it comes to how they became a couple.
Maryse and Miz first met when he was a judge on the 2006 version of the Diva Search, Maryse hated Miz at the time but was later signed to the company to work on the SmackDown brand alongside him.
Miz and Maryse seemingly avoided each other until the company forced them to work together as part of a storyline back in 2009 where Miz was attempting to get Maryse’s attention since she was the Divas Champion. Shockingly, despite the hate that the two stars once had for one another, this led to a real-life relationship that continued following Maryse’s release from WWE back in 2011.
Miz even took Maryse back to the hotel where they first met as part of the Diva Search auditions when he proposed to her ahead of their wedding back in 2014.
#2 Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella
Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella worked together before their relationship began
Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella have become one of the best-known WWE couples in recent years after stints on Total Divas and Total Bellas as well as the fact that WWE allowed the couple to work together on WWE TV throughout 2014.
Even though the couple didn’t publically reveal their relationship until 2013 when Total Divas made its debut on the E Network, the couple actually started their relationship back in 2011, something that Daniel Bryan confirmed in his autobiography that was released following his WrestleMania victory back in 2014.
The couple also worked together on WWE TV back in 2010 before they started dating when they were put into a storyline that pitted both Bella Twins against one another as they fought for the affections of Daniel Bryan. Interestingly, it was Nikki who looked as though she was going to walk away with the former World Champion throughout the storyline.
It appears that it was Brie who won that battle in real life even though in storyline it was Gail Kim who showed the two sisters the error of their ways when she was spotted with Bryan backstage.
#1 Triple H and Stephanie McMahon
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have been married for 16 years
Perhaps one of the best-known couples in WWE history and the ultimate power couple of WWE was actually formed through a storyline. When Triple H first started working with Stephanie McMahon he was in a relationship with Chyna, whilst the daughter of Vince McMahon was under strict instructions about dating her father’s employees.
It appears that neither of these factors stopped The Game and Stephanie from forming a personal relationship after being aligned together on WWE TV throughout the feud between Vince McMahon and Triple H. This began following their “marriage” on WWE TV back in 1999 and followed through for the next year and a half on WWE TV when they were known as the McMahon-Helmsley Faction.
McMahon and Triple H later married officially back in 2003 and have since welcomed three daughters. Stephanie now works as The Chief Brand Officer for WWE whilst Triple H is the Chief Operating Officer as well as the main person behind the day to day running of NXT.
Triple H and Stephanie are the most powerful people in the company aside from Vince McMahon himself, but it’s shocking to think that they may never have become a couple if they weren’t aligned together on WWE TV.
