With most of the cast reprising their roles film after film, there was a camaraderie and comfort level that would have naturally developed among the actors. The cast of Harry Potter has shared many unforgettable memories over a decade of filming which also included mercilessly playing pranks on each other. Daniel Radcliffe, who was the perpetrator of many such pranks, was also on the receiving end of a few brutal ones.

Alan Rickman Pulled An Epic Prank On Daniel Radcliffe

With a huge ensemble cast that worked together constantly over eight films, the sets of Harry Potter was always buzzing not only with work but also with a lot of lighthearted play. While Daniel Radcliffe was responsible for initiating a lot of pranks on set, he got a taste of his own medicine from none other than Alan Rickman, aka Professor Snape, who was his nemesis in the films. Explaining the details of Rickman’s brutal takedown, Radcliffe said,

“There’s – in the 3rd film – there’s a shot in the great hall of all the kids sleeping in the great hall, and the camera starts very very wide, and comes in so that it’s an inch from my face, a very long developing set, yeah, and Alan Rickman decided he would plant one of those fart machines in my, uh, sleeping bag, and they waited until like -the camera had come in for this huge DRAMATIC developing shot, and then unleashed this tremendous noise in the great hall,”

The Harry Potter actor initially thought that this elaborately designed prank was the mastermind of one of the young actors in the film but later realized that it was Alan Rickman who had executed it. The star said that while it was hugely embarrassing, it was also extremely funny.

Daniel Radcliffe Went A Bit far With His Prank On Hagrid Actor

When he wasn’t getting pranked, Daniel Radcliffe was busy creating his pranks on his cast mates. The Late Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid in the series, was the scapegoat for one of Radcliffe’s hoaxes. The actor meddled with Coltrane’s phone rendering it incapable for his co-star to make any calls from his device. The Hagrid star looked back on the experience and said,

“Because my phone was now in Turkish nobody could work out how to change it back into English and it became a bit of a problem”

Coltrane was able to solve the issue after a Turkish makeup artist on set was able to sort out the kinks after a few humorous calls to her mother. Coltrane also added that Radcliffe felt guilty following the incident and wrote him a sweet note of apology.
