Sam Raimi as the director for Avengers: Secret Wars? Where do we sign the petition?

Upon the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the film was met with opposing reviews. While some fans weren’t impressed, many others were totally blown away by how the story unfolded. Filmmaker Sam Raimi’s added touch of the horror genre was also applauded by many. However, not everyone was a fan of what he did, particularly with Wanda Maximoff.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda a.k.a. Scarlet Witch was the main antagonist of the film but her villainous persona stemmed from grief and loss, thus making many viewers understand where she was coming from. Wanda in Doctor Strange 2 proved to be one of the MCU’s best villains, but unfortunately, many may not agree. And now that Sam Raimi has shown his interest in directing Avengers: Secret Wars, there was obviously going to be some pushback from a few fans. But worry not as Sam Raimi’s fans have got his back!

Sam Raimi is Interested in Directing Avengers 6

There’s no doubt to the fact that Sam Raimi is one of the most impressive directors out there today. His work with the Spider-Man films has always been appreciated by the fans of the superhero genre. However, when he stepped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Doctor Strange 2, there was some criticism about his work. But hey, there’s always going to be a little criticism coming your way no matter what you do, right?

Now, the Marvel Studios are getting ready for two huge films that will be coming out in the near future – Avengers 5 and Avengers 6. As for who will direct one or both of the filmsRaimi’s name has been floating around a lot lately.

At this year’s WonderCon, Screen Greek had the privilege of asking Raimi if he was the top choice for being Avengers: Secret War’s director. He replied,

“I love 90% of the Marvel heroes that I’ve read in the great Stan Lee Marvel Universe comic books. I would love to work with Marvel again. They haven’t reasonably asked me to. I hope they had a good experience with me. They haven’t asked me yet. I hope they do.”

Raimi’s style of filmmaking might be just what the MCU needs after failing to impress fans and critics, project after project. Nevertheless, fans are entitled to their opinions. While there are many who love Raimi’s direction and are excited about the idea, some are totally against it.

For example, the co-founder of The Direct opined that the Russo Brothers (Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo) would be a better choice for the film. He added that while the Russo Brothers handled every character in the previous Avengers films with utmost care, Raimi didn’t even bother to watch Elizabeth Olsen’s WandaVision before directing Doctor Strange 2.

Do you agree with his point of view or do you think Raimi would make a perfect director when it comes to handling the responsibility of Avengers 6, one of the most anticipated movies in the MCU?

After Raimi made his interest in Avengers 6 known to the world, fans were all-in for the idea, well, except a few. One even stated that they’ll only be watching Marvel films from now on “if they are directed by Sam Raimi.”

Coming to the argument about WandaVision mentioned above, many fans were quick to oppose the opinion stating that Wanda was the best-directed character in the film, despite Raimi not watching the Disney+ miniseries.

Fans also pointed out that Raimi couldn’t study WandaVision as the show had not been finished by then.

Take a look at how fans came in support of Raimi and Doctor Strange 2’s Wanda:
