‘Gwen Stefani’s frumpy country style is bid to fit into Blake’s world amid marriage rumors but doesn’t match young face’
She said Gwen’s latest array of “frumpy” outfits was about pleasing her husband, but it “mistakenly” jarred with her “extremely young face.”

Gwen, 54, and Blake, 47, released a duet in February called Purple Iris.
On Instagram, Gwen shared a promotional photo of herself dressed in a dark blue denim jumpsuit.
The singer was clinging to her country star husband.
“They’re ACTORS,” commented one fan.
On Valentine’s Day, the former No Doubt frontwoman appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel set to share the details of the couple’s music efforts.
Gwen wore a pink frilly jumpsuit. Her bright blonde hair was styled to make it look bigger.
“The person that has zero fashion sense!” commented one follower.
“What is this look?” asked another.
Fashion psychologist Professor Carolyn Mair said Gwen’s new style was “aging her,” claiming it juxtaposed quite badly with her “transformed face.”
“Gwen has completely transformed her face, but her new clothes are frumpy,” Mair told The U.S. Sun.
“The combination of the aging clothes, young face, and big hair makes her look quite different and is a mistake.
“The clothes and face are incongruous because, facially, she looks younger than when she was around 18.
“Now Gwen sometimes looks super frumpy with her fashion choice and bigger, blonder hair.
“The recent clothes look like somebody in their 70s or 80s would wear them with long sleeves, frills, and all this material.
“Her new clothes look suitable for an elderly person.
“This is a big step away from Gwen’s previous well-put-together pop star looks.”

Blake and Gwen met when they coached on The Voice in 2015.
They tied the knot in 2021 but more recently have been plagued with rumors of difficulty in the marriage.
Blake and Gwen started 2024 with tours, gigs, and solo business projects, meaning spending time apart.
Mair said Gwen’s style change suggested she could be “deliberately” trying to please her husband.
“It seems that Gwen is working on fitting in with Blake and the country music scene,” she said.
She looks wifey, which is possibly what Blake wants, and perhaps she wants it to.

“But again, it does not match with the young face.
“Maybe Gwen is influenced by what is happening in her personal life with Blake.
“She could want to dress more coupley because they want to show they are a team.
“The other angle is that she might be trying to please Blake.
“Gwen might be trying to show him she aligns with his values and wants to fit in with his social group.
“This is likely because Blake is not the one who has changed his style, Gwen has.

“This is not subconscious for Gwen. Choosing clothes is a conscious decision.
“Gwen looks like a country singer’s wife rather than a pop/rock singer.
“She looks wifey, which is possibly what Blake wants, and perhaps she wants it to.”
Over the last two decades, Gwen has built up a tremendous music career for herself as a pop star and then a coach on The Voice.
She has become famed for wearing plenty of statement outfits and glamorous styles.
In her No Doubt years, she dressed in bikini tops and low-rise cargo pants.
As she matured, she took fashion risks and turned to luxury designers.

“We are used to seeing her in raunchy and sexier looks with short tops and low-rise jeans,” said Mair.
“Gwen always liked to show her belly and wore many crop tops and low jeans.
“Gwen used to have a much more modern, edgy look.
“She has moved onto a country look, whereas the other looks are much more rock chick.
“The pink dress we saw on Kimmel is very Dolly Parton-ish.
“This is such a departure from where she was previously

“The white dress with the black spots is very frumpy as well and is a big step away from her previous looks.”
Maybe Gwen feels that being married to a country singer has changed her identity.

As an entrepreneur, Gwen launched beauty and fashion lines in 2005 with her collection, L.A.M.B.
“I’m like every other girl,” she told The Guardian in 2007.
“I have to try really hard my whole life to try to be fit. And I’m super-vain. And I want to wear cute clothes.”
Reaching her fifties and after marrying Blake, it appears the Don’t Speak hitmaker is not slowing up.

“Maybe Gwen feels that being married to a country singer has changed her identity,” Mair added.
“This means she is portraying this through her fashion choices.
“This is part of her life, but now her face and clothes just do not go together.
“Usually, when you get older, certainly from your mid-30s, you begin to know your fashion style.
“You begin to know what suits you and what does not.
“This might not be the case for Gwen.”

When Gwen and Blake started dating after meeting on the show in 2015, they were both coming through breakups.
Gwen was married to rocker Gavin Rossdale, and Blake to country star Miranda Lambert.
While Gwen and Blake came from different backgrounds, many questioned whether they would work.
Country icon Dolly Parton spoke about the new couple with Gwen suddenly connected to her scene.
“I think they look great as a couple, and they’ve both been through similar things,” Dolly told E! in 2016.
“I met her when I was out there in Los Angeles doing The Voice, and she seems very sweet.”
“But I love Miranda also!” Dolly added.

Gwen will reunite with her former band, No Doubt, for a performance at this year’s Coachella in a few months.
Mair added, “Now Gwen has been trying to align her style and identity with her husband’s identity.
“Gwen wants to be accepted into the whole realm of being within country music.
“It would be like a big family and not just because of the fashion.
“The country music industry is different, and so is the fashion.
“Being Blake Shelton’s wife is likely to dominate part of her social life and become her social identity.
Perhaps Gwen did not feel welcome in or by Blake’s country music world.

“Gwen’s clothes play down her achievements and identity as a pop star rather than celebrate them and who she is.
“Her clothes are now much more about her being in the country scene.
“Gwen wants to try and belong in his world, which is the country world and very different from where she was before
“It is about feeling accepted as much as about feeling happy, but the two are not disconnected.
“She wants to dress like the members of his social groups, the country musicians and fans.
“Gwen wants to feel welcome or accepted by that community.
“It could be that she was not welcomed and accepted at first.
“Perhaps Gwen did not feel welcome in or by Blake’s country music world.
“Alternatively, Blake has put some pressure on her to fit in.
“We demonstrate belonging to a group through our appearance, and our clothing is 90% of that.
“People can also recognize what group we are in because of how we dress.
“She is probably trying to fit in with his country music group for those reasons.
“Belonging is a basic psychological need, so Gwen wants to be accepted and liked as his wife in that group.”
