Other than many renowned accolades to his name, Tiger Woods, also played an integral role in Dustin Johnson‘s love life.
How you may be wonder? Well, life has its own way of playing cupid! But in Paulina Gretzky and DJ’s story, it was Tiger Woods, and Janet Gretzky, that too at the event hosted by the legendary golfer!
Usually, a tournament is remembered for the winner, the prize money, or how difficult or easy the game was. However, that was not the case at the World Challenge’s Wednesday Pro-AM round, 13 years ago. During her recent appearance at the Scoop, hosted by Claire Rogers, Paulina shed light on how her mother played a vital role in setting her up.
Talking about how Woods played an accidental role, Paulina Gretzky said, “She (Janet) was paired with him (DJ) at Tiger’s tournament.” Janet, seeing a chance for her daughter, didn’t hesitate. “Do you want to meet my daughter?” she asked Johnson, a simple question that set the wheels of fate in motion.
The LIV star’s excitedly responded, “He’s like, Yeah, I do.” The ensuing invitation to the Gretzky home laid the foundation for something special. Recalling about her first meeting, the 35-year-old remarked, “I show up looking like a complete ragamuffin.” It was the golfer’s gentlemanly demeanor that stood out for Mrs. Johnson.
“He was such a gentleman, so endearing. He’s always been that way to me,” she added, highlighting the sincerity and charm that caught her heart. “So that’s literally and I had nothing to do with it at the time. But lo and behold love of my life,” said Paulina.
Even after their first meet, it took them approximately 2 years to actually begin dating. It all happened in 2013, when Gretzky was a staple at Johnson’s games. They got engaged in August of that year and finally tied the knot in April 2022. The Los Angeles born actor is now a staple in the golfing circuits, but this was not always the case.
How did Paulina Gretzky found her way to golf?
Paulina Gretzky, despite her sports-rich heritage, was initially indifferent to golf. Born to “The Great One,” Wayne Gretzky, she had an athlete’s mindset. She, however, favored tennis over golf, reflecting, “I didn’t appreciate golf much when I was little.” This sentiment marked her youth, with golf merely a backdrop. Yet, her engagement to Johnson sparked a newfound enthusiasm for the sport.

Her involvement in golf, sparked by a familial connection and nurtured by her relationship with her husband, underscores a deeper tale of love and adaptation. “I’ll go with him (Johnson) to the range every once in a while,” she said, depicting how her relationship has evolved with golf.
Even when Johnson decided to quit the PGA tour and tee up with the Saudi backed league, his wife stood by his side to support him. So what is next from this superstar couple? What does the 4Aces captain hold in store for us? Follow us for the latest updates.
