Marvel star Scarlett Johansson explained her discomfort with being under surveillance due to celebrity status. Read on for more.
Many often desire fame and popularity, but people do not know the perils of being a public figure. With the advent of camera phones, even ordinary people can breach celebrities’ personal space. The actors and actresses often speak about it in their interviews and say how annoying that is sometimes. Marvel star Scarlett Johansson once opened up about the dark side of fame and called it weird.
ScarJo has been in the entertainment industry for a long time and has done some notable works. But her fame reached new heights after appearing as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka MCU. She played the part from 2010 to 2021. Besides her work in the MCU, she has been praised for her performances in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, which earned her two Academy Awards nods.
Scarlett Johansson is one of Hollywood’s most influential and highest-paid actresses. She grabbed headlines for going against the media giant Disney for putting her Marvel movie, Black Widow, on Disney+, which reduced her financial stake in the film because of her deal that the salary would be primarily based on the film’s box office haul. The breach was settled, and the actress revealed no grudge against them.
Why did Scarlett Johansson say it was weird to be famous?
According to TOI’s report, the Avengers: Endgame star explained that fame brings out the worst in humanity. She said, “It’s weird to be a recognizable face. I find it can bring out the worst in humanity. You’ll be having an intimate dinner with a friend, and there’s somebody on the table behind
with a camera phone pointing at your face.”
Johansson explained, “.I would never take a photo of someone without asking. So, it does surprise me sometimes how inconsiderate people can be. I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to that.”
Scarlett Johansson’s unimaginable star power is reflected in her net worth, which is an estimated $165 million.
Will Scarlett Johansson return as Black Widow?
Scarlett Johansson’s character died in Avengers: Endgame in 2019. There is very little to no chance of her returning to life the traditional way. But it can be made possible since it’s MCU and has several alternate universes. But it depends on whether the actress wants to return and on the studio’s willingness to get her back.
However, she is reportedly associated with a secret MCU project, and the details of it are under wraps. On the professional front, she was last seen in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City beside Tom Hanks.
