Defeated this Monday by New York, the Warriors once again fell to 10th place in the Western Conference. An observation that Stephen Curry was called upon to return to at a press conference and which led him to rail against the current level of his team.

Back to square one. Winners of the shock against the Lakers last weekend, the Warriors then killed two birds with one stone by passing their evening opponents in the standings. A position that they would have liked to maintain, or even improve by the end of the regular season. However, it only took a few days for them to fall back into their ways and let her slip away.

Steph Curry shares his thoughts on the Warriors

Opposed this Monday to the Knicks, Steve Kerr’s men simply did not know how to rise to the occasion. Led from start to finish during this meeting, they ended up losing 112-119 and returning to 10th place in the Western Conference. For his part, author of 27 points (8/20 shooting, 4/13 from 3 points), Stephen Curry also had a difficult evening against the tenacious Miles McBride:

Marked in the pants by his young opponent, Curry would have liked to be able to count on his teammates to achieve victory. The contribution of the latter, however, once again proved insufficient. It was therefore with a look of bad days that the star leader presented himself at a press conference and reacted scathingly to a question relating to the ranking of his franchise:

Stephen Curry: A week or two ago, the goal was 6th place. Now I don’t really care about our rankings. The most important thing is the consistency that we must display in our performances. Honestly, there’s nothing to beat from your position in the standings when you play like we did tonight. Whether we are 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th or 10th, it doesn’t matter. We won’t get very far like that.

Steph’s observation is intended to be quite clear: as it stands, the Dubs will not be able to claim anything at the end of the regular season. Their seed would therefore have little importance since, according to him, it will not prevent premature elimination during the postseason. There is now a little month left for the Chef and his gang to rectify the situation and find the right fuel in order to fight for the title again.

There is no question for Stephen Curry of turning a blind eye to the Warriors’ performances. According to him, his franchise’s season risks ending much earlier than expected if it does not manage to find consistency in the weeks to come.
