“Who cares what seed you are?” Stephen Curry expresses disappointment after Warriors loss to Knicks

Golden State Warriors lose against New York Knicks, superstar Stephen Curry says inconsistent play makes playoff seeding pointless

The Western Conference playoff seedings battle is turning out to be a mini-tournament on its own. Every day, the results alter the standings from 1-10. Yesterday, the Golden State Warriors were sitting at no. 9. They’ve dropped a place after today’s loss to the New York Knicks. Moving up a seed drastically alters how one’s playoffs could go, and who better than Stephen Curry to know that?

The Golden State Warriors faced the New York Knicks tonight who were playing without a few of their starters. The loss against the Knicks pegged the Warriors back into the 10th seed in the West.

When asked by Anthony Slater about the playoff seedings, Stephen Curry had this to say;

It's just inconsistency of how we're playing, that's the most important thing. Cause, honestly who cares what seed you are? If you play like we did tonight, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, whatever it is, doesn’t matter. You’re not getting very far.

Stephen Curry said

Curry understood the situation which has been fueled by a 17-17 home record. He accepted that their inconsistency has been the reason they are back in 10th place.

Stephen Curry mentioned that a few weeks back, the Warriors targeted the 6th seed. That would have been ideal considering they will get rest days until the play-in games are over. But this loss makes it harder for them to get to the 6th seed. And it is primarily down to inconsistent play which has plagued them all year long.

However, the Warriors are having a tough month with a 4-5 record after tonight’s 119-112 loss. In this game, the Warriors never got closer than 4 points than the Knicks. The offense could not show the spark that led them to beat the Los Angeles Lakers a couple of days back.

Stephen Curry and Golden State Warriors have a tough task of going up the playoff seeding

This season, the Golden State Warriors have been plagued with inconsistent play. Initially, it was down to injuries and Draymond Green‘s suspensions. Now with everyone healthy, and Green orchestrating the offense, it must have been better. The 11-3 record in February hinted at a possible resurgence up the standings.

A couple of days back, the win against the Los Angeles Lakers moved them up to 9th. All they had to do was continue to win with 3 easier than usual games at home. After that, they go on a road trip where they face playoff contenders in the first three. There is no margin for error in the Western Conference.

With the remaining schedule the Warriors have, Stephen Curry knows that every game matters. But he also acknowledged that it doesn’t matter at the end if their inconsistent performance continues.
