SHE was once described by Prince Harry as being the “sister I never had” – and so Kate Middleton’s friendship will be a huge “loss” to the royal, according to an expert.

The Princess of Wales was previously said to bring out Harry’s “fun side”, with the pair showing a “strong bond” when Harry lived in the UK.

But the tight knit relationship appears to have broken down when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit royal life – and Kate and Harry’s friendship is now said to be “long in the past”.

Royal editor Ingrid Seward told Fabulous that Prince Harry “thinks about the loss of Kate Middleton friendship a lot” because he “always wanted a sister.”

She said: “I’m sure that Harry thinks about it a lot. It probably occupies a lot of his thinking time, if he has any thinking time.

“I think it was a very close relationship.”

Ingrid pointed out that Harry was quoted as saying “she was the sister I never had”, and claims he previously had begged Princess Diana for one when he was growing up.

She continued: “He always wanted a sister. Diana told me that.

“She said: ‘Harry always wanted a sister and I said, look, I can’t just produce a sister for you Harry.’”

Prince Harry and Meghan wished Princess Kate “health and healing” after her shock cancer diagnosis.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a short statement following the announcement and it is understood the couple reached out to Kate and William after news broke of the mum-of-three’s diagnosis.

The pair said in their statement: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

However, it’s not sure when Prince Harry will be reunited with his UK family again.

Ingrid speculated that he could reconcile his relationship with Kate but the “ball is totally in her court.”

She added: “He’s always got to protect Meghan hasn’t he?

“If she made an overture to him, he could revive and just have a relationship with her without involving anyone else.

“I think the board is totally in her court.

“And of course, she’s going to want to be loyal to her husband.

“I don’t think it would be anything to do with William.

“It would just be between Harry and Kate. And it wouldn’t be anything to do with Megan either.”

In his best man’s speech for his brother’s wedding, Harry reportedly joked he gave Kate the thumbs up for having “killer legs”.

However, he’s since slammed the royal family in his bombshell Spare memoir, with him claiming Kate made Meghan cry over the infamous bridesmaid dresses for the Sussex royal wedding.
