However, Coronation Street was nowhere to be seen with the International Football taking its place.

The women’s match saw England face Sweden in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifying competition.

The competition determines the 15 teams joining the automatically qualified host Switzerland in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final tournament.

Coronation Street usually airs between 8pm and 9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The schedule shake-up left fans at home furious as they took to social media to take aim at ITV.

One wrote: “They are at it again! #Football instead of #Corrie #CoronationStreet!”

A second fumed: “It’s as boring as f*** and has ruined the Friday night viewing of MILLIONS of people.”

“This isn’t fair. I mean, who wants to watch a load of ponytailed blonde Swedish lasses running around in shorts getting sweaty,” said a third.

While a fourth posted: “Football disrupting our schedule!”

However, on Tuesday ITV execs aired an additional hour-long episode of Coronation Street to make up for Friday’s disruption.

Emmerdale fans were still able to enjoy their Friday visit to the Dales at 7pm.
