For 25 years, Eiichirō Oda’s One Piece has continued to surprise and captivate his fans. Behind the main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, lie equally fascinating pirates and antagonists, fueling the most daring fan theories. Among these mysterious characters, Blackbeard, aka Marshall D. Teach, occupies a special place, giving rise to new hypotheses that could well change the situation.

Blackbeard and the misunderstanding of his Life

Marshall D. Teach, better known as Blackbeard , is one of the Emperors of the Seas and the captain of the Blackbeard Pirates. Having reached the top by indirect means, a new theory suggests that his difficult childhood pushed him to want to change the world. According to this theory, Blackbeard was a slave during the Godvalley Incident .

When the slaves were freed during this incident, he was allegedly led to falsely believe that Rocks D. Xebec had come to rescue and free them. Thus, he would follow Rocks’ will in order to take over the world . While the Buccaneers believe in Sun God Nika as their savior, Blackbeard considered Rocks D. Xebec to be Sun God Nika.

Nika’s Unexpected Role

A popular image of Marshall D. Teach under the moon could be interpreted through Figarland Garling, whose hair resembles a crescent moon. A popular theory suggests that Shanks could be Figarland Garling’s son due to their resemblance. This would mean that he is the heir of the world, while Blackbeard, as a former slave, would be the heir of the slaves.

When he was a slave in Godvalley, the World Government could have experimented on him. This could explain why Blackbeard never sleeps and has extraordinary stamina . These experiments aimed to make slaves more enduring, at the cost of unimaginable suffering.

Blackbeard’s True Purpose Revealed by Van Augur

Blackbeard, belonging to the first generation of experienced slaves, may be the only survivor. This misunderstanding led him to work tirelessly, fueling a desire for revenge against the World Government. Additionally, the misunderstanding regarding Rocks D. Xebec and Nika led him to name his ship the Saber of Xebec .

This theory remains a hypothesis until confirmed by Eiichirō Oda. As One Piece nears its end and the Five Elders reveal their true powers, new mysteries may be revealed.
