The Warriors’ winning run came to an end on Friday as they lost 108-106 in Dallas, after defeating the Mavericks at Chase Centre on Tuesday. PJ Washington had a huge impact for the Mavericks despite both teams being shorthanded, with a game-high 32 points with 5 made threes.

The Warriors were paced by Stephen Curry, who scored half of his 28 points in the final quarter, as per ESPN’s stats. The Warriors failed to convert the game-winning 3-point attempt following Washington’s game-winning field goal.

In contrast to their impressive beginning in Houston, the Warriors trailed by 16 points early in the initial quarter on Friday. But they answered with a 19-2 run that put the Dubs ahead on to a buzzer-beating splash by Chris Paul. Chris Paul finished the quarter with a plus-17 rating and a 2-for-1 performance. During that time, the Warriors’ bench scored a perfect 7-for-7.

Chris Paul Continues to Put Pressure on the Mavericks’ Defence

With four thefts in the second quarter alone, Chris Paul tied the record for most steals in a quarter in his career and continued to dominate the game. Paul returned with 2:57 remaining in the second quarter, having played his typical stint with the reserves deep into the frame. He then finished the half with the starting lineup.

With ‘CP3’ on the court in the fourth and his lob to Trayce Jackson-Davis giving them the lead at the half, the Dubs outscored Dallas by eight points. Chris Paul had nine points, eight assists, five rebounds, four steals, and a block at the game’s conclusion. With the highest plus-minus in the game, he was a plus-22 in 31 minutes.

With 10:42 left in the final quarter and the team down by eight points, coach Steve Kerr made the unusual decision to substitute Curry ahead of schedule. Curry’s spectacular 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the game trimmed the margin to one while providing him 12 points for the quarter, proving that Kerr’s call was wise.

Curry tied the game with a stunning step-back mid-range jumper following a Mavericks free throw. Using five of ten shots, he concluded the half with 14 points.
