Draymond Green played one of his best games for the Warriors in last night’s win over the Spurs.
Draymond Green and Victor Wembanyama
Draymond Green spoke to the media after the Warriors’ well-fought win against the San Antonio Spurs, where he said he was happy to face their rookie sensation now and warned the league about a future Victor Wembanyama.
He described the game’s final moments, where he matched up against the rookie and lost while attempting an offensive rebound.
He then, with a sense of humor, wished his younger teammates the best of luck when they meet him in the future, and he’s retired by then.
He's a very, very, very, very, very special talent. I'm happy I got the opportunity to play against him now because they'll have to deal with him a lot later, and I won't be in the league no more, so that's good for me.Draymond Green said
The Warriors had faced off against the Spurs in what was a must-win match, and although they left with a win, it wasn’t an easy one.
They had to contend with Victor Wembanyama, who had one of those special nights as he came up with 32 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Furthermore, Draymond Green played one of his best games for the Dubs as he rounded up the game with 21 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds.
With that being said, Victor Wembanyama has exceeded all expectations this season, as he is on par to win the season’s Rookie of the Year and is a strong contender for Defensive Player of the Year. With the Spurs having an abysmal season, he made it; he’s coming for the award next season if the franchise learns from their season woes and performs better next season.
Draymond Green and Steph Curry combine to nullify Victor Wembanyama
The Golden State Warriors played their fifth consecutive away game at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, against the San Antonio Spurs, who were on a three-winning run and returned with a hard-fought 117-113 victory. They didn’t have the best of starts, as they ended the first half with an eight-point deficit.
However, thanks to the efforts of veterans Steph Curry and Green, the Dubs came back roaring in the third quarter as they won it 37-21, albeit going on a 14-0 run just three minutes into the quarter. Their two-time MVP, Curry, led the resurgence as he finished the game with 33 points, eight assists, and one rebound.
Luckily, Green didn’t have another freakish moment like he did against the Orlando Magic. The Dubs could put a little breathing space between themselves and the Houston Rockets, who fell back to earth via a Luka Doncic moment of magic.
Next for the Warriors and Spurs is a game against the Dallas Mavericks (home) and the Denver Nuggets (away), respectively.
