Luffy falls short of Naruto in terms of fight moves and pronunciation.
Luffy has a long list of moves that may seem strange compared to Naruto’s Rasengan and Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Anime and manga fans have often compared the series’ iconic characters, with the most notable comparisons being Luffy from Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece and Naruto from Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto. While both characters are peaking in their own universes, fans have judged these characters based on the popularity they have amassed over the years.

One place where Luffy loses to Naruto is his fight moves or the way they are pronounced. Luffy has a huge list of moves that might sound quirky, but they still get the job done. Naruto on the other hand has a limited number of moves, but he tends to use different variations of them to get an advantage over his opponents.

This issue was recently discussed on X(Formerly Twitter) when a One Piece fan account posted a tweet that stated that Luffy’s iconic Gum-Gum Pistol might be better than Naruto’s Rasengan. This instantly went viral and fans shared a general opinion about how Luffy needs to learn how to name his moves in One Piece.

Luffy’s Moves Are Not As Iconic As Naruto’s

Naruto and Luffy, both follow the stereotypical goofy main character aspect as the protagonist of their respective series. However, when it comes to fights and battles, Naruto seems more serious than Luffy. Although both of them use a unique way of fighting, Luffy’s moves feel more silly and funny compared to Naruto’s.

This is because Oda tries to include a fun element in all of Luffy’s fights. Granted, this helps in making the fight entertaining and fun to watch, but they tend to take away Luffy’s moment against his enemy. Many fans also believe that this might become Luffy’s weakness in the future when he faces stronger enemies.

Another aspect that adds goofiness to Luffy’s fight is the names that he gives to his moves. Luffy has a habit of adding Gum-Gum before his moves which was the name of his Devil Fruit before he unlocked Gear 5. This makes the pronunciation of the move a little less serious, and less iconic compared to Naruto’s Shadow Clone Jutsu and Rasengan.

Anime Fans Debate Over Luffy and Naruto’s Fight Moves

An X(Formerly Twitter) user @mussieox posted a tweet where he compared Luffy and Naruto’s most iconic moves. The user stated that Luffy’s moves are more iconic than Naruto and this instantly went viral on the social media platform.

Fans went on to point out that most of Luffy’s moves, though reliable are not as cool or as notable as Naruto’s move.

Not only that, fans even pointed out the fact that no one yells or calls out Luffy’s move because of the Gum-Gum prefix with their names which makes them sound funny and not as strong to a non-One Piece fan.

Irrespective of the name or how cool they sound, both Luffy and Naruto’s moves are incredibly strong and have been used to defeat some of the strongest characters of their particular universe.

You can watch One Piece on Crunchyroll and Naruto on Hulu.
