SUMMARY

Zoro and Sanji’s intense rivalry is highlighted in chapter #1107 of One Piece , sparking strong debates among fans.
Sanji surprises everyone by blocking an attack from Kizaru, showcasing his growth and strength in the Egghead Arc.
Zoro impresses by keeping up with Lucci’s speed, proving his strength as a swordsman and highlighting his growth.

Zoro and Sanji easily have one of the strongest rivalries in One Piece and the latest chapter just made the debate about who is stronger even more intense. While their relationship does have an underlying current of mutual respect, Zoro and Sanji‘s constant banter since the very start of One Piece has sparked many a power-scaling war among die-hard fans of each and the Egghead Arc has fanned the flames even more.

Chapter #1107 of One Piece highlights Zoro and Sanji’s growth as they both face off against Luffy’s former opponents, Lucci and Kizaru. The chapter reveals Zoro is still battling Lucci and has managed to hold up quite well despite seeming weary. Although the battle appears to be reaching a stalemate, both Lucci and Zoro seem assured of their own victory.

Meanwhile, Sanji shockingly blocks an attack from Kizaru, brushing it off as “the power of love.” Sanji’s ability to block the attack surprises not only Franky but Kizaru as well, emphasizing how impressive the feat truly is. Although a few pages apart, these two scenes may be deliberately juxtaposed to nudge fans into drawing comparisons between the two.

One Piece shows Zoro fighting an awakened Devil Fruit user, proving that the Straw Hat’s swordsman is at the same level as his captain Luffy.

Chapter #1107 highlights how far Sanji and Zoro have come, allowing their abilities to take the spotlight for the first time since Wano. Both Zoro and Sanji underwent tremendous growth at Onigashima through their respective battles against Queen and King and their latest opponents provide an excellent stage for their newfound strengths to shine.

Sanji’s ability to deflect Kizaru’s attack may be best explained as a mixture of Armament Haki and Sanji’s strengthened exoskeleton, a part of his dormant Germa modifications which were awakened during the battle at Onigashima. Kizaru was responsible for the Straw Hats’ crushing defeat at Sabaody and, as such, has been a highly anticipated opponent for a rematch. While Luffy has fared well against Kizaru so far, seeing Sanji be able to stand up against him surely was an unexpected surprise.

Meanwhile, the most impressive part of Zoro’s battle against Lucci is definitely Zoro being able to keep up with Lucci’s speed. Lucci was one of Luffy’s strongest enemies prior to the time skip and is even stronger now that Lucci has awakened his devil fruit, which makes Zoro’s ability to hold his own for this long all the more impressive.

Luffy has had a lot of incredibly intense fights throughout One Piece’s 25 years of serialization, but which were the hardest for him to deal with?

One Piece’s Monster Trio Will Prove Themselves At Egghead

Overall, the Egghead Arc is all but posed to be the antithesis of Sabaody, proving the Straw Hats’ strengths instead of their shortcomings, particularly with One Piece‘s infamous monster trio. While Zoro keeps Lucci occupied, it appears Sanji might do the same with Kizaru, allowing Luffy to focus entirely on taking down Saint Saturn. Evidently, as much as fans may debate about who is stronger between Zoro and Sanji, at the end of the day they both play their roles flawlessly as the perfect wings for the future king of the pirates.
