Metallica’s duet with crowd-surfing Lady Gaga goes awry when James Hetfield’s mic fails… as the Grammys are plagued with technical difficulties

On live television, anything can happen.

And that certainly proved the case at Sunday night’s Grammys, as Lady Gaga and Metallica’s eagerly awaited duet was marred by a dead mic on a night beset by technical difficulties.

Lead singer James Hetfield’s lyrics could not be heard at all for the start of the set, with only Lady Gaga‘s portion of Moth Into Flame audible.

Gaga isn’t among the nominees this year because her latest record, Joanne, isn’t eligible as it wasn’t released between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016.
