On Sunday evening, it was tweeted that, per a source, Rice “has retained counsel,” according to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson.

“Separately, a release on the incident is expected sometime tomorrow.”

The incident in question took place at around 6:20pm, with The Dallas Morning News subsequently confirming that police were searching for Rice.

Police didn’t confirm whether he was involved in the crash.

What has been made clear is that a Chevrolet Corvette and a Lamborgini were driving at a high speed in the far left lane leading up to the accident, as shown in dashcam footage obtained by a local ABC affiliate WFAA.

Those within both the Corvette and Lamborgini appeared to immediately leave the scene.

Two drivers received treatment on the scene for minor injuries, while two others required similar treatment at a local hospital, per The Dallas Morning News.

One of the people involved, Kayla Quinn, and her 4-year-old son had been driving back from a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo when the incident took place.

She explained seeing cars spinning and flipping before spotting someone from the Corvette being pulled from the car by others from the Lamborgini.

All of the occupants of the two vehicles then seemed to head to a train station Quinn said.

“No one stopped,” she told The News.

“We had children, like, we had kids, you know what I’m saying?

“It’s the fact that there was no sympathy shown to where y’all can even have the decency to stop and check to make sure someone’s OK, someone’s alive, you know?”

According to Quinn, the Lamborgini had a pair of white cleats in the back.

Rice had not been located by the authorities at the time of publication.

Born in Pennsylvania, Rice grew up in the DFW Metroplex.

An All-ACC First-Teamer while at Southern Methodist University, Rice wound up being drafted in the second round by Kansas City in 2023.

He finished the regular season with 938 yards and seven touchdowns, before setting an NFL rookie record with 26 postseason receptions.

Rice and the Chiefs subsequently won Super Bowl LVIII, with the rookie racking up six receptions for 39 yards against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chiefs will now enter the 2024 season with their eyes firmly set on becoming the first team in history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
