Adam Sandler turned down invitations to appear on The Howard Stern Show for years. In 2012, Howard Stern shared on his show that he believed his past criticisms of Sandler’s movies were the reason why he refused to come on the show.

The issue became clearer to Stern after Sandler avoided him during a plane journey.

When the Blended actor finally agreed to appear on the SiriusXM show, Stern had an awkward time when they discussed this ‘feud’.

Stern recalled the flight incident, and Sandler shared that it was because of the host’s nasty comments about him and his films. The Wedding Singer actor shared that Stern also called an a**hole the very next day. Adam Sandler shared (via Daily Mail):
“That was after you were nasty to me, and I remember the next day you talked about me being an a**hole again. But the reason I didn’t say hello was you were saying s*** to me.”
However, the Private Parts actor got more uncomfortable after Sandler revealed that he, as an NYU freshman, loved Stern and his shows. Stern’s comments were hurtful to Sandler since they were coming from his icon. The 50 First Dates actor shared with Howard Stern:
“When I was at NYU freshman year, I loved you. That’s why it was weird when you used to slam me. It would break my heart because I loved you growing up.”
Stern surprisingly apologized for his behavior with Sandler and admitted that he was being a “total f**king a**hole.” Stern also added that he always felt bad about all the years they didn’t speak.

It appears that the two share a good relationship now.

Adam Sandler’s movies weren’t exactly the critics’ favorite. Sandler revealed to Howard Stern that the only concern he had about negative reviews was how they affected his friends.

Interestingly, Sandler has a habit of casting his close friends in his movies.

Sandler revealed that his films usually performed well in test screenings, and he would call up his friends to appreciate their performances.

However, they would then get panned in theaters, breaking his promise to his friends. Sandler shared:
“The bad reviews that I get on everything I do, that part pisses me off because I ask my f***ing friends to be in it. I’m promising them, ‘I think it’s good.’

And then I do screenings for an audience and it all works, and I’ll call them up after and say, ‘Hey, that one thing you said really did great.’ And then that Friday, every Friday, literally every one of my movies is destroyed.”
Adam Sandler has also surprised critics with some of his films, including Punch-Drunk LoveThe Meyerowitz Stories.
