The “Friends” star recalled the time Carole King held a séance at the home.

Courteney Cox and Howard SternThe Things

Courteney Cox‘s career has taken her from dancing on stage with Bruce Springsteen to starring in Friends.

She has become part of television and pop culture history with her role as Monica Geller.

She now stars in Shining Vale, a series which centers around a haunted house.

Cox had her own experience with a haunted house, which was previously owned by legendary singer-songwriter Carole King. Cox would tell Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmel of her experiences.

Her experiences with sprits even included a particularly bizarre moment in London.

Courteney Reflected On Her Experience During ‘Friends’ And The Show’s Success

Among Cox’s career achievements was her run as a cast member of Friends. Cox played Monica Geller and watched her career skyrocket as the show’s success grew.

Today, Friends is one of the most successful and famous sitcoms of all time.

Friends taught me the importance of camaraderie and really sticking together.

These friendships were at the most important time in my life, and we went through so many things together,” Cox told Variety.

“And it just taught me about being there for each other — I know, that’s the song: ‘I’ll be there for you.’

But it’s true. It was so nice to work with people that could bounce ideas off each other. Everybody wanted the best for everybody.

There was no jealousy, it was only, ‘Let’s make the best show we can, and let’s support each other in this.’”

Friends went on to earn 62 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and ran for ten seasons.

It became a staple of 90s pop culture and television history.

After Friends ended, Cox continued to have a successful career in television with shows like Cougar Town and Shining Vale.

“I do think that Friends was such a unique experience and I’m on a show now that is too.

I really love the cast. I think that was really lucky,” Cox said.

“The casting is so important and doing a little research about whether a person has reputation. I think it’s so much about putting together the right kind of people.”

Courteney Said Carole King Held A Séance At Her Home Because It Was Haunted

Cox spoke to Howard Stern in 2022 about the series Shining Vale.

The discussion then turned to ghosts and Cox’s various encounters. Cox began by telling Stern about a house she previously lived in that had a reputation for being haunted.

Cox said that she began believing something strange was going on in the house when a delivery guy rang her doorbell one day.

“I got my package,” she began. “He said, ‘Did you know that this house is haunted?’

I said, ‘Really, why?’ He said, ‘Because there’s someone standing behind you.’ I said, ‘Oh s***.’ And that’s when I believed.”

Prior to Cox, dancer Gypsy Rose Lee and Carole King lived in the house.

In fact, the house was the location of King’s famous album cover for “Tapestry.” When appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cox talked about the time King came over to visit.

“So Carole King came over to my house, and she said that there had been a divorce that was really ugly and there was a ghost in the house, and I was like, ‘Yeah, whatever,'” she said.

“But other people who had stayed there, friends of mine, said they felt an encounter with a woman [who] was sitting on the edge of the bed. I was like, ‘Yeah, whatever.'”

Cox said that King went so far as to hold a séance in the house during her visit.

“And I was just so in awe of her, I didn’t listen to a word,” Cox said.

Cox told Stern her most recent encounter happened in London when she was sleeping next to boyfriend Johnny McDaid.

“I saw these really scary faces,” she said. “I was like, ‘Mom? Dad? Auntie Em?’”

According to Cox, when she woke McDaid up, he didn’t believe her.

“He said, ‘You’re asleep.’ I said, ‘No! I just woke you up. How can I be asleep?’”

Cox then explained how she got the spirits to leave her alone the next morning.

“I did see them for sure,” she said. “I said, ‘Thanks for visiting last night—that was fun—but do not come back tonight. I have to sleep.”

According to Cox, they never came back.

Courteney Looked Back On Her Days Of Getting Fillers With Regret

Plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures have become a regular aspect of being a public figure.

Cox has been known to get filler from time to time. However, as she recently stated, those days might be over.

In an episode of the Gloss Angeles podcast, Cox reflected on her time getting fillers and admitted she isn’t thrilled with everything that was done.

“Thinking I was getting older when I was really young, that’s just a bummer, a waste of time; it’s a domino effect, it’s like you don’t realize that you look a little off, so then you keep doing more cause you look normal to yourself,” Cox said.

She continued, “You look in the mirror and go, ‘Oh, that looks good,’ you think, and you don’t realize what it looks like to the outside person and just doing too many fillers and having to have them removed, which thank god they are removable, I think I messed up a lot and now luckily I can, I was able to reverse most of that, now I’m actually just older.”

Cox said that among all her beauty regrets, her fillers remain at the top of the list.

She mentioned looking at past photos of herself and being shocked by what she saw.

“I look at pictures of me from when I thought I looked okay, and I can’t believe it,” she said.
