Christopher Nolan is rumored to be in talks to direct two James Bond films
Fans have been speculating about who will be the new 007 since Daniel Craig’s retirement
The character of James Bond has been a fascination for Hollywood for over 60+ years.
The character has been portrayed by several actors and has been reinvented several times and allowed to evolve with the changing times.
Every few years, a new actor steps in to play the iconic character and each brings their own take and style to the character.
From Sean Connery to Roger Moore all the way to Daniel Craig, the franchise has been bang on in its casting of the character.
With Craig’s tenure as Bond over there are multiple speculations as to who would play the next 007.
Many names came up including Idris Elba, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and even Tom Hardy.
But franchise producer Barbara Broccoli says a modern reinvention of the character will take place and the process has not started as of yet, while also hoping to experiment with versions from other countries.
There are Plans For Versions of James Bond From Other Countries
Daniel Craig in No Time to Die
The character of James Bond has seeped into the hearts and minds of people for more than 60 years. The character is a big part of pop culture and is one of the most iconic characters in movie history.
Since the end of Daniel Craig’s tenure as the character in No Time to Die, fans have been speculating about who will be the new 007.
Franchise producer Barbara Broccoli recently talked about the character’s legacy and how “modernization is necessary” for the franchise to stay relevant. She told The Guardian,
“I go back to GoldenEye when everyone was saying ‘the cold war is over, the wall is over, Bond is dead, no need for Bond, the whole world’s at peace and now there’s no villains’ – and boy was that wrong!
Daniel gave us the ability to mine the emotional life of the character … and also the world was ready for it.
I think these movies reflect the time they are in, and there’s a big, big road ahead reinventing it for the next chapter and we haven’t even begun with that.”
Broccoli is also trying to experiment with versions of Bond from other countries. She told The Guardian.
“We haven’t quite gotten there yet; we want to launch it and see the response … but I would love to see the various versions around the world, from Africa, India, and Asia.”
It would be interesting to have an interconnected spy network with various countries.
It would also be a great choice if the next Bond is not necessarily British, but rather a non-White Bond and given the same launchpad and treatment as the previous Bond actors.
Christopher Nolan Rumored To Direct Two James Bond Films
Christopher Nolan
A rumor has been circulating that Christopher Nolan is in talks to direct two 007 films for Barbara Broccoli and MGM.
The origin of this rumor comes from Jordan Ruimy from World of Reel who states that a source told him that the maverick director is in serious contention to helm two 007 films and Aaron Taylor-Johnson would play Bond.
This might not be a true and reliable source and fans have to wait for an official confirmation from the producers themselves. Nolan had told The Happy Sad Confused Podcast,
“I love those movies. The influence of those movies in my filmography is embarrassingly apparent
It would be an amazing privilege to do one.
At the same time, when you take on a character like that you’re working with particular set of constraints. So it’s a kind of responsibility I also felt very much when taking on Batman.
You wouldn’t want to take on a film without being fully committed with what you bring.”
Fans have to wait a while longer for official news about the next incarnation of their beloved spy.
They can re-watch their favorite Bond films on Amazon Prime where a collection of films of the franchise are available to watch.
