A Japan Airlines plane caught fire at Haneda Airport, Tokyo – Japan on January 2 after allegedly colliding with a Coast Guard plane.

The airline said all 379 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated. This can be considered a miracle when witnessing the plane engulfed in flames.

Live footage on NHK television showed the plane burst into flames as it slid down the runway despite rescue teams’ efforts to extinguish the fire.

According to NHK , Japan Airlines flight 516 took off from New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido and flew to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

The Japan Coast Guard said it was investigating the possibility of one of its planes colliding with a passenger plane after it landed.

NHK television reported that five of the six crew members of the Japan Coast Guard were killed. Their bodies have been found but no further information is available. The remaining person escaped. This plane is preparing to fly to Niigata to aid earthquake victims.

According to an airport spokesperson, Haneda Airport closed all runways after the incident.

This accident occurred while Japan was gathering forces to respond to the consequences of a strong earthquake in the central region. To date, 48 people have been determined to have died in the earthquake.
