The entrepreneur mom, 55, has nothing but wonderful things to say about her three girls and the bond they share, both with each other and their movie star dad.

Speaking with PEOPLE about season 2 of The Family Stallone, the mom of three — who shares daughters Scarlet, 21, Sistine, 25, and Sophia, 27, with the Rocky star — says fans get to see a “more human” side of the family this season.

“I think you really get to know each of our personalities a lot more because we’re much more comfortable in having all the cameras around, and you sort of forget that the cameras are there, sometimes, which is kind of strange to say,” Jennifer tells PEOPLE.

“They’re just so much part of our lives. It’s all of our friends behind the cameras. So, we are just like a small family. We travel with them.”

Fans will also get to see the Stallone family be more “open and vulnerable” than ever in front of cameras.

“We share a lot more about our struggles and our good times and bad times. And I think that people are really going to be able to relate more to us on a more human level instead of it being Sly as a movie star living with his family. I think the girls are really showing who they are.”

This season’s action will show the family of five navigating on their own for the first time.

While Scarlet is enjoying being a college student in Miami, Sophia and Sistine settle into life in New York City, leaving the empty nesters with more time to grow their social circle in Palm Beach, Florida, and relish time together.

“I think that we’re all finding who we are without each other in a lot of ways,” Jennifer says.

“Sly and I are now discovering we can have a lot more friendships. We can do a lot more with our couple friends.”

“And the girls are finding their independence! They’re learning to survive in New York alone without having parents right there to rely upon or come home to for dinner,” she continues.

“They’re growing up a lot, and Scarlett is in college, so she’s finding a whole new set of friends and boyfriends and everything. She’s doing great. I mean, we’re all thriving with the move.”

Transitioning into seeing your children as adults isn’t always easy for parents, but Jennifer says it’s been nothing but a joy to see her girls learning and growing as young women.

“I’m very proud of them because growing up, you never know what they’re going to turn into; you’re not sure,” she shares. “I was a very hands-on mom, so I saw them become the women that they are today.

I’m very proud of them. I am extremely happy with what decisions they’re making, and I couldn’t be a prouder mom.”

The girl mom is enjoying this stage in her relationship with her daughters, where she gets to watch them “discovering, besides doing this TV show, what they really want in life and who they are, where and in what direction they’re going to go in.”

“Sophia really enjoys reading, so she has her book club she’s pursuing. She also has a lot of great ideas for TV shows,” she shares.

“She’s actually working on a deck right now for two that some studios are interested in.”

The entrepreneur says her kids are taking to “behind-the-scenes” entertainment work.

“They’re really expanding, not just in front of the camera stuff. They’re really interested in doing behind-the-scenes work,” she says.

“Sistine is continually working on her script that she’s developing, and so she has her own thing and then she and Sophia also have their podcast together,” the proud mom adds, referring to the sisters’ podcast Unwaxed.

“They love working on that. They write it direct it, produce it, they edit it — they do everything for it.”

Scarlet is also exploring all her different creative options, from “trying a little acting and getting a few small roles here and there,” to “even starting to model a little bit, which I never thought she would be interested in, but she said, ‘I’ll try it.'”

“Scarlett’s got a few acting jobs coming up and I’m excited to see her perform again,” she says.

It’s thrilling for Jennifer, who personally prefers “being behind the scenes more than in front of a camera.”

“I want them to have both because being in front of the camera is sort of relying on other people to accept you or like you,” Jennifer explains.

“You’re in a situation where you may not be the perfect person for that script or that role or that part, whereas if you own your own business or creative ideas, you can work forever. So I always try to suggest work that’s more behind the scenes instead of in front of it.”

When it comes to professional advice, Jennifer admits she and her Rocky star husband don’t always approach the girls’ problems the same.

“Sly and I are totally different people. My advice to them is sometimes right one and sometimes not.

And I love that when they don’t get the sort of answer or advice they’re satisfied with, they go to him. He usually comes up with a great idea or suggestion to help them out.

He’s really good at providing balance. We’re totally ying and yang and it does take a village to raise kids. We’re good together because we offer some two totally different perspectives.”

Outside of seeing where the new roots planted take them, Jennifer is looking forward to enjoying “a family vacation without cameras” this year. “We’re deciding what we want to do there, and it’s just so much fun.”

“I think this is the first time in our marriage that we actually have some couple friends and we’re having so much fun going on trips with our new friends,” Jennifer says happily.

“Before, we were just working non-stop and parents. Now we’re actually a couple and we get to do things together without worrying about the kids and the dogs and everything else going on in our lives.

We really have more time to just sit and relax with a glass of wine, talking about what we want in the next 10 years and where we’re going. I’m really enjoying it, to tell you the truth.”

For Jennifer and Sly, “patience and understanding, and knowing each other’s personalities,” have helped them weather the ups and downs life brings.

“When you know someone’s personality, you know when you should push something and when you should just take a step back and say, ‘You know what? This too shall pass.'”

“It’s not overreacting to everything. Some people wake up in a bad mood, so don’t jump on them if they’re not feeling good that day.

Take a step back, and let them figure it out. Family is so important and it’s important for all of us to work together and stay together.”
